"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints" (Jude 3).

Who Will You Serve?

By Rev. Jack Howell

There are many professing Christians today who are playing a deadly game. They are in effect playing with fire! What are they doing? They are trying to hang on to the things of the world and serve God at the same time! They want to continue running with their worldly friends and continue with a worldly lifestyle that weakens, if not outright destroys any testimony for Christ they might have had. They often try to justify this by claiming they'll win their friends to Christ if they continue being part of the world. Actually, what usually happens is just the opposite. The professing Christian is lured away from Christ back into a life of sin. God's Word says, "Do not be deceived: bad company corrupts good morals" (1 Cor. 15:33 NASB). God's Word also declares, "Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (1Jn. 2:15 NASB).

If you try to divide your loyalties between God and the world, you are in effect committing spiritual adultery! "You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God" (James 4:4 NASB).

You must choose this day whom you will serve. If you choose the world then follow after it. If you choose God, then follow after Him whole-souled, not half way, not part-time, not with one foot in the world and the other in Christianity!. Being a TRUE follower of Jesus Christ requires total, absolute commitment to Him. Anything less is unacceptable to Him.

"Some bring God's curse on them by marking off part of the Bible, calling it erroneous, uninspired, less than the very Word of God." - Dr. John R. Rice

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
