Verse of The Day For Tuesday, December 23, 2008

Wow! It is hard to believe that Christmas is only two days away and a new year, a new year of opportunity for serving God is just around the corner! I am excited to see what God has in store for me in the coming year! I have selected the following as today's verse of the day:

"Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes" (Luke 12:23 NIV).

There is so much more to life than just feeding and clothing the body. We were originally created to have fellowship with God, thus we ought to be living for Him, walking in His statutes. Remember, Jesus said, "People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4 NLT). His words are the Words of life for they give sustenance to the spirit and soul, just as literal food gives sustenance to the body. Sadly, many are feeding their spirit and soul unhealthy spiritual junk food rather than the wholesome Word of God which is truth (John 17:17).
