"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints" (Jude 3).

"He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted" (Isaiah 53:3-4 NIV).

The prophet Isaiah foresees the hatred and rejection of the Messiah by mankind. He also foresaw the abuse and grief He would suffer on our behalf (Matthew 23:37; Luke 13:34). When he stated, "yet we considered him stricken by God", etc., Isaiah was using the first person to prophetically speak of his nation's aversion and rejection of their crucified Messiah, as well as their lack of respect of the incarnate God. "Stricken and smitten by God" is a reference to His crucifixion for scripture states, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree" (Deuteronomy 21:23; Galatians 3:13). Jesus endured the humility and shame of the cross so that we could be set free from the law of sin and death and live a victorious life in Him! Thank you Jesus, for doing that for me!

"Some bring God's curse on them by marking off part of the Bible, calling it erroneous, uninspired, less than the very Word of God." - Dr. John R. Rice

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
