Why Isn't The USA Mentioned In Bible Prophecy?

Why isn't the USA mentioned in Bible prophecy? This question comes up quite often and has been the subject of a great deal of discussion and speculation on many internet forums, prophecy programs on radio and television, and even in some prophecy seminars. Among the speculative reasons given are:

1. At some point during the end times, the USA would either cease to exist or becomes irrelevant as a world power.
2. At some point during the end times, the USA is absorbed by another nation or union of nations under the direct control of the Antichrist.
3. The USA is not mentioned because it did not exist as a country during the times the End Times prophecies were written.
4. The USA is not mentioned because the Great Tribulation is not global, but is limited only to the countries of the Middle East.

I go with reason #3 as the most logical and common sense answer. Now, a number of false teachers have tried to force the USA into Bible prophecy by use of eisegesis and misconstruing such places as Babylon as referring to the USA, and other false teachers have tried to force the beast of Revelation 13:11 to be a reference to the USA, but the simple, cold, hard fact is that the Bible does not mention or refer to the USA because it did not exist at the time the prophecies were written. In fact, none of the countries of "the new world" are mentioned because they did not exist at the time the prophesies were written. It is sheer folly as well as poor hermeneutics to try to read the USA or any other new world country into Bible prophecy since the prophets did not have these nations in mind when they wrote, nor could they have since they were non-existent at the time of writing.
