"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God" (Colossians 3:16 NIV).
The "word of Christ" is a reference to scripture inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is to dwell (be at home) richly, more precisely, abundantly in us as Believers. The thought is that the Word of God should permeate every aspect of our lives as Believers, controlling our every thought, word, and deed (see Psalm 119:11; Matthew 13:9; Philippians 2:16; and 2 Timothy 2:15). Being filled with the Word of God is parallel to being filled with the Holy Ghost in Ephesians 5:18 since the results of each are the same. It is the Spirit and the Word that bring about the New Birth and the Spirit fills the life of the Believer controlled by the Word. Hence, it is essential that Believers feed on the Word of God by studying it daily and desire it more than our necessary food (Job 23:12). The New Nature, that is, the born again spiritual nature draws nourishment from the Word of God. Sadly, there are many spiritually malnourished Christians weak in the faith because they do not feed daily on God's Word and grow and become spiritually strong. As Believers, let us remember to set aside some time each day to study the precious Word of God!

"Some bring God's curse on them by marking off part of the Bible, calling it erroneous, uninspired, less than the very Word of God." - Dr. John R. Rice
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
