"and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it" (Matthew 10:38-39 NIV).
Jesus is speaking of total commitment to Him, even unto physical death. It is a call to total surrender to Him. Jesus does not want "part-time" followers or "half-hearted" followers. He demands our exclusive devotion, and anything less than that is unacceptable.
