1. Take a 20x30 inch jumbo tea towel and fold in half. Mark with a washable fabric marker roughly  6" across.

2. Mark roughly 71/2" down and join the dots with a line.

3. Cut.  The apron should look like this.

4. Fold raw edge under 1" and press. Repeat on the other side.

5. Fold edge under again 11/4" and press. Repeat on the other side.

To be continued underneath.

Apron Tutorial Continued ...

January 17 2008, 2:05 PM

6. Sew through all the layers close to the edge. Repeat on the other side. You should have a tube like opening.

19989.jpg

7. POCKET: From fabric stash cut out 2 81/2x15" rectangles.

19988.jpg

8. Sew together with the right sides facing, but leave an opening to turn right side out. Once turned right side out, stitch opening closed. Sew along top edge. This will keep the pocket from rolling and stretching.

9.Pin and sew down the sides and along the bottom onto the apron. Sew down the middle to divide the pockets.

19987.jpg

To be continued.

To Make The Tie....

January 17 2008, 2:10 PM

For the TIE:

1.cut 3-21/2 x 42" strips. Pin and sew strips together making one long strip.

2.Turn the edges under 1/4". Sew along edges.

3. Fold in half and sew the edges again.

19985.jpg

4. Attach a safety pin and thread up one side of the apron and down the other, leaving space for the neck strap.

Your new apron!

Oh I think maybe

January 18 2008, 10:59 AM

I could do one of those! I love them Daisy, and the very bottom one did you embroider the tree? Thanks Daisy for the tutorial, now when I get up the courage I will try one, I am always scared I will mess things up and there is the material that I have wasted. I am still trying to get the courage up to do my little quilt, but here again I am scared I will mess things up, jam the sewing machine and then I will really be embarrassed.

I bet you could easily Tea ...

January 18 2008, 6:44 PM

It's not that hard if you take your time.

Now you've got to get started on the quilt, if you need any help you can just holler and I'm sure someone here will walk you through it. Plus if you could call your friend over and make her a latte or a tea perhaps she could help you get started. You will make mistakes at first my friend, that's all part of it, I made lots of mistakes until it finally clicked in this brain of mine what to do, and I still make mistakes. But once you know how to do it, you'll always know.

I bought the tea towel that way, I didn't embroider it. That particular tea towel was make out of  a flour sack believe it or not. And it was so easy to sew.  The other one is just made out of regular tea towel material whatever that is ... cotton I imagine.
