8:25,
If those are your picks, then there was no need for tryouts. Several of the names you listed had terrible tryouts this weekend and would make it purely on past accomplishments or teams. |

why do you consistantly rip on gensler... is it because you know he is better than you and are jealous. watch a AAA game and I think you might notice a difference him and Carey are the best players on the ice |

many kids who made the cut only showed for 1 or 2 of the tryouts. Not saying that they aren't the better players, but how is that fair? |
|
Anonymous
| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | March 10 2008, 1:07 PM |
Its not a matter of being fair, its a matter of making the best team they can. Gensler and O'Neal arent going to any tryouts aparently and have been guaranteed spots on the team. Life isnt fair. |
|
Anonymous
| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | March 10 2008, 1:53 PM |
Then why even have the tryouts |
|
Anonymous
| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | March 10 2008, 2:05 PM |
Because there are always a couple of spots open. No matter how 8 or 9 forwards play in tryouts, you know they are on the team leaving the rest of the field to fight for 3 spots. Same with defense and goalie, Maybe 2 or 3 spots open on D and then the backup goalie spot is up for grabs. |

Here is what is stated on midstates website about the chicago showcase: "It’s purpose is to allow high school hockey players from around the country, who do not traditionally get scouted due to geographic and budgetary constraints within the scouting circles, the opportunity to compete against the best of the country"
Do the AAA guys traditianlly get scouted? if a player like a Gensler is one of the top AAA guys, why should he participate in this? The intent is NOT to field the BEST of the BEST. |

| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | March 10 2008, 5:36 PM |
There is another opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to compete at the Showcase. It's called Team Missouri and the tryouts are going on now.
The Midget Select Team is intended to showcase 1990 Midget skills against the best in the central region, therefor requiring additional 90's from AAA in order to be competitive. A number of kids made this team that normally would not have made AAA or CS. The evaluation team, under the supervision of Bob Turow, selected this team and did a great job.
So, thanks to every hockey player from St. Louis for representing us well, enabling us to have the chance to field 2 very competitive Midget teams being showcased.

| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | March 12 2008, 9:06 AM |
Since defense was a little thin, Gammage has to make it, he looked great in tryouts. Unfortunately that would mean two pretty good CBC forwards would not get a shot. On the flip side, the forward position is strong and that would give a chance to a couple of forwards that typically get overlooked. Povich is a pretty good fifth or sixth D, unbelievable shot and very physical. |
|
Anonymous
| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | March 12 2008, 12:05 PM |
Povich is not physical at all and makes bad passes. Dependahl and Pollizi will get cut at forward becuase they are the weakest from CBC. |

| Re: Getting their butts kicked | April 20 2008, 8:25 PM |
it doesnt help when every team they play has at least one player on the NHL Central scouting list. i think they played hard and showed alot of heart. the thing that hurt them the most was getting down early. these teams were fast and scored fast. when youre down 3 in the first against skilled teams like them its hard to gain confidence and come back. just my .02 from witnessing it. |

| Re: Getting their butts kicked | April 21 2008, 4:21 PM |
The teams they played were amazing. Wisonsin had the strongest defense of any team I have ever watched in a U18 game. They out played Michigan for 2/3 of the game, but they were already down 3-0 when they kicked it into gear. Team Northern New England was a great forechecking team and solid goaltending. They played as hard as they could, but the teams in the A pool are there for a reason. They are the cream of the crop and it's evident that Missouri should be skating in B Pool, but they never stopped playing. They showed a ton of heart even against Wisconsin. They came out in the third down by 8 and still played as hard as they could. Good Effort to the boys of Team Missouri and good luck with Jr. Tryouts this season. |

6:30 is a broken record. they can only take players who tryout and are willing to do the program. stfu or give names of people they "didn't go after" or who were "the right kids" who wanted to play but were turned away!!!
there are none!

| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | April 27 2008, 8:31 PM |
Regardless of who was on the team and those that did not try out. The team did as best as it could in the A Pool. If the question is, the best players didn't try out, then shame on them. This tourniment was filled with scouts from all schools, and a lot of different leagues. I would hope that the players of the future take a good look and try out and see if they have what it takes to represent Missouri. |

| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | April 28 2008, 1:44 PM |
Reread the posting March 10 @2:20. This was suppose to be for high school kids who don't normally get scouted. You can't have it both ways. Do you want the Cary/Gensler's or do you want a chance for others who normally don't get seen? The boys played hard and did the best they could. They should be proud of that. So don't say shame on them for not trying out. |

| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | April 28 2008, 2:10 PM |
This is a perfect example of how Tier2 kids are very good players but just not good enough to compete against the TIer 1 calliber kids. Go off on AAA all you want and say how those kids are not that good and all that crap but you see what happens when they face real strong talent. Blow outs. |

| Re: Chicago Showcase Remaining Players | April 28 2008, 7:37 PM |
now how can you say that they could have beat AAA MM? No one can really say what they would have done if they did not play the game. The AAA team was good and competed with many great teams this year so judge only when they play and not on what you think/ |

So smart one how many AAA MM games did you watch this year that allows you to pass that judgement call? Either you are just an jerk or you really cannot judge team success. AAA MM had a great year it was a top 20 team while being one of the youngest teams playing AAA MM level. Did they have some weaknesses? Sure like any team but I saw your team play and you can never say that team MO was better or even close to the AAA MM team? Really you are sounding just plain stupid. But that is nothing new for this site.
