08-09 Metro

May 11 2008 at 11:51 AM

-
1. CBC
2. CCP
3. Vianney ?
4. DeSmet
5. SLUH

Vianney could possibly be a team to beat this year with a very veteran team, from forwards all the way to goaltending. They have Elite leaders and a solid hard working team behind them. Watch out for Vianney this upcoming year. Yes, they only have a few "Elite players" , but in highschool they have a solid team to compete. Both Goaltenders are seniors. It will be a fight for the number one spot. They should both be on there games all season. Check out there top players this year.

Solid Forwards
Kowalczyk, Boning, Wiseman, Jones, Stout, Chestnas, Paluczyk

Solid Defense
Cero, Slaznik, Fairchild, Aul, Overkamp

Goaltending
Dahlheimer, Bearden

Sluh goaltending issues will be much more severe than anyone else in the Metro. Without Effinger Sluh will not be nearly as successful as they were last year.

My rankings for the Metro
1. CBC
2. Chaminade
3. Vianney
4. Sluh
5. Desmet

Its not likely that anyone will, but who would have thought that Brian Sheehan would have left after just his sophomore year. Anything is possible, it just takes one team to really like a player.

Even though CBC and Chaminade have more talent, I think Vianney might be getting overlooked a little. An older team with a lot of returning seniors including their two leading goal scorers. If they can get some solid goaltending this year they are not a team that should not be taken lightly.

come on embarrassment is a little much. Just because you are jealous of their talent. If you didn't play in the games than you don't need to be embarrassed for chaminade. They are a good bunch of kids. To say they are an embarrassment is a little much. Everyone wants to bring up the past and put Chaminade's season on the championship games. There is more than 1 game in a season. No one gives Chaminade the credit for beating everyone else to make it to the big game. If people are tired of seeing Chaminade beat by cbc than maybe someone else can step up and get beat by cbc. They did the best they could against cbc 4 solid lines to chaminades 3 to 4 good players so it's time to move on and lets see what 08-09 brings.

I don't think that's something anyone wants to be remembered for.

They palyed CBC close during the regular season 2 years in a row but when it counted they CHOKED. You can put whatever spin on it that you want but that's what happened.

No one is denying that CCP lost big in 2 big games. The point is that they are not a shit team and they can play hockey. No one seems to acknowledge that they were the 2nd best team. All the haters focus on is the loss which is over with and its time to move on. Can't we talk about something else like how ccp beat your team.

2:11- I think one of the issues was how they played without any class to become the second best team at ScottTrade center. Most people understand that the team that lose in the championship game is the second best and had to have some success in order to get there. What most people don't respect is the total lack of class many players displayed.

CCP classless? It all goes back to the same arguement. CCP was blamed all season for not having any heart. When they came out and played in the 3rd they showed heart. If you were a 15 - 16 year old kid who is loosing a hockey game for the second time don't tell us that you wouldn't have a lot of emotion. Unless you are a CBC or CCP player, you don't know what was being said on the ice either. It is a fact that all mighty CBC is no angel. So as it has been said before, IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON. I mean how stupid to keep going over this. You must really have an axe to grind. Living in the past is not healty. And as for gensler celebrating the 2nd goal, what about the kid who scored like the 7th goal celebrating and jumping up and down like he just got the overtime goal in the stanley cup. Not that is memorable.

Vianney
-Kowalczyk 31 points
-Boning 24 points

-thats over a point a game for each of them and with a veteran hard working team behind them, they may be a tough to play against
-also, two senior goalies, both not stars, but above average. I am thinking a big year from one of them will happen.
-in closing, a very solid team.

Re: 08-09 Metro

May 15 2008, 8:49 PM

1. CBC- Losing some solid players such as Carey, Kanipe, Dependahl, Lezinski, Peterson , and Filip but they have a lot of depth. Goaltending could be an issue but this is still the team to beat.

2. CCP- Only key lose is Leonard. If Gensler stays this team is still scary.

3. Vianney- Kowalcyzk and Boning lead a pretty hard working and solid forward unit. If D and goaltending hold up this team is dangerous, if not then it will be the same as last year.

4. Sluh- Losing Effinger is huge as they will rely on an average goalie to lead them all season long. Berger and Corby need to have another huge year for this team to be successful.

5. Desmet- This team seems to have a lot of issues starting with the head coach. Losing Devine, Garlik, Wardlaw, and Goodwin doesn't help either.

I think what 8:30 was talking about was this past year and the upcoming 08-09. They have no superstars left. They still will be the team to beat. Eventhough they have no superstars they always pull off a solid team and we have seen from past experiences a solid team beats 3 - 4 superstars everytime.

OMG this is high school hockey and he dominated most teams according to you by not playing hard. He had over 70 points last year in high school and led the metro by far. He was a huge reason Chaminade made it as far as they did. Lets see if he works harder maybe he could get over 100 points this year.
