Sarah, I think I picked up my bug by clicking a lick off of Greta Wire. That's when things started. If I go there, my PC makes all kinds of whirling noises, and my curser shivers [linked image]

Hmm.. i will not say "why not try a Mac" sarah, because i am sure your daughter
(isn't it?) is saying that enough.

I still do not know how you all can STand all the junque going on out there.@

if you are looking for intellectual answers for "windows",viruses and things, and security tips and etc, i used to go to Komando.com

The lady knows her computers and knows how to keep them (so she says, and i believe her) clean.. She recommends a number of applications, but as i remember ,all the downloads she has on her site and recommends, ( most of them anyhow) are free...yes, free.

****edited this post..**** some of these applications , as i remember, will remove viruses which are already onboard..
i believe.

I used to use a lot of her stuff before i had a Mac..

BUT I Burned out my olde laptop hard drive adding all the antivirus and anti spam and anti trojan and anti etc...

it was an older computer i started with..Windows 98.

I am sure glad i do not have that any more..
There is just no nonsense at all with Mac.

BUT that may be changed, as most new Macs have a whole windows platform ( along with the Mac platform)
(mine doesn't..it is too old)..
and no doubt that Windows part needs attention and anti virus this and anti spam that and etc.

anyway, hope you get things all cleaned up.

Hi Alice,

Thanks for the tips! I am sorry I didn't get a Mac like my daughter and you and alot of others suggested. My next computer probably will be a Mac. I have used almost every anti virus anti spam anti malware program there is and they come up with nothing. I just have to change my e-mail but that is my problem What do I do with my address book since this spam uses my address book to send spam to everyone in it. The whole thing is just so awful. I can't respond to anyones e-mails since I'm afraid I will infect their computer. Anyway thanks again for the website I have it bookmarked.

An email from my brother,Don

September 29 2009, 4:57 PM

"I use a computer company in Kaysville Utah, that built and maintains the computer networks for Weber State University in Ogden Utah, and the Davis County School District, which is the county I live in. I have had them build me, or sell me numerous upgrade parts for my computers or friends and relatives. They install and ship their computers with the following programs installed. The 3-tier approach to keeping the computer running well is the following 3 programs. You need all 3. I update, and run these 3 at least once a month.. Give this a try and see what you think.. If you have questions about how to update and use these programs just ask... Don

AVG Free Antivirus (uninstall your current antivirus program first)
http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol

SpyBot Search and Destroy
http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html?tag=mncol

MalewareBytes
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol

Please be careful as you see other programs with names similar to the ones above. They are not the same, and these are the recommended programs. All of these links I have sent are to get these programs for free from www.download.com Don't pay for any security software, there is good free stuff available.

Don

P.S.,If you want to forward this along to any of your friends, who you feel might need this, do so.

Note: You must uninstall your existing antivirus program before you install AVG Free. Don't have 2 antivirus programs on your computer."

I have used the free version of AVG antivirus for years and am very happy with it. I just downloaded the MalewarBytes and it is running a scan. Finished its scan;took about 6 minutes for a quick scan and found nothing (thankfully happy.gif
