Couldn't you get somebody in to fix it, if you can't do it yourself?
I would recommend calling in a furnace guy yourself and getting it fixed asap. You'll have to pay for it one way or the other. Do you have renter's insurance? This would have been a good reason to have it.
How cold has it been getting? I would be worried about freezing water pipes if it is getting too cold. But it shouldn't be right now.
