If you are heading south to north, day three would probably be around RT 31. However, I don't know of any place near the highway where you could hide a cache of food. Quiet honestly, I've never thought of caching my stuff..
If you are heading north to south, day three would probably put you around RT 30. There is Walat's Bar and Grill ((724) 238-9955) located just a short distance off of the trail. I've never been there, but I hear they are very hiker-friendly. Perhaps they would store your stuff? In any event, you may want to stop in for a hamburger. I hear they are pretty awesome!
