A bona-fide TV event opens September for ABS-CBN’s multi-awarded drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya” when Rosanna Roces finally makes her return to acting on the episode airing on Friday.
One of Philippine cinema’s acknowledged great actresses, Rosanna Roces had long transcended her “sexy” image to prove herself a versatile and magnetic performer in such hits as “Ligaya Ang Itawag Mo Sa Akin”, “La Vida Rosa”, and “Curacha”, among others. As part of the films, she has also become the toast of several international film festivals. But after a very turbulent 2005, Osang decided to take time off and enjoy her life after working non-stop for years. She also took time to become a very young grandmother.
A year after deliberately removing herself from the limelight, Rosanna Roces is back to face another acting challenge – and what an acting challenge “Maalaala Mo Kaya” has lined up for the star! Pairing her up with multi-awarded director Jeffrey Jeturian, whose recent film “Kubrador” was an unqualified success at the Mosco Film Festival and the Osian-Cinefan International Film Festival, and acclaimed leading man Albert Martinez, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” gave Osang a memorable character in Glenda, a wife and mother with four children to raise. When her husband Jully (Albert Martinez), who left his family in the provinces to work in Manila, fails to return home for several months straight, Glenda decides to investigate. She soon finds out Jully is living with another woman, Leah (Dimples Romana). She drags him home and looks for work herself in Manila – only to find out that Jully has deserted the family anew a week after she left.
A disappointed Glenda is determined to wash her hands of her useless husband and his possessive new wife but her plans hit a snag. Her son, Aries, enters a deep depression and becomes disturbed at the idea of losing his father. He becomes hysterical and refuses to take his medication.
For Glenda, there is but one solution: she has to take her family and move in with Jully in the hopes that her son will get better. This is a huge sacrifice for her – not only will she live with the husband who abandoned her, but with his mistress, who hates the very sight of Glenda. But how long can she take Leah’s snideness? Jully’s general worthlessness? And the fact that Jully’s escalating abuse of Leah is starting to remind Glenda of the hell she faced with her husband when they were together?
Mico Aytona, Empress Schuck and Angela Antonia complete the cast of this must-see episode hosted by Charo Santos-Concio. Watch Rosanna Roces’ acting comeback on Friday on ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya”.
Pokwang is at the beginning of what looks like a very promising career in comedy, and a very identifiable persona as a hilarious "babaeng bakla." And how did her children with Hideyo and her next Japanese boyfriend bring Pokwang the many moments of happiness and heartbreak that sustained and challenged her over the years?
In May 23 episode, Pokwang plays a single mother named Rita from Laoag who was abandoned by her husband who sells toys for a living to pay-off her ex-husband's debt. She manages to make other kids laugh while she painfully misses her own children.

Will she able to bring joy to their faces similar to the entertainment that she gives to other children?
