This is a long, complex, beautifully written story. She brings so much depth and richness to the situations and characters. Mulder and Krycek are both incredibly vivid, complicated and utterly human, and Scully is terrific here. The sex is hot, but more than that, the slow opening up to each other, and then being jeopardized by outside events, is so gripping and real. The way she gets into the emotions of falling in love, losing someone, being afraid to trust, is absolutely spot on. There is a scene in the trunk of a car that is just unforgettable. I honestly can't remember the last time I read a story that actually made me cry in places, or had me sitting up reading half the night when I had to be up for work the next morning. Lots of humor as well!
