Hi there;
I learned vivation from Bacalls audio program. She basically gives one hour of lecture, and one hour of guided vivation session.
My challenge with vivation is that I'm able to feel really good, but later on when the triggering thought occurs, the physiological sensations return!
Is this normal? It seems to me like integration is only temporary.
thanks for your response in advance.

RE Temporary Integration

There are many responses I can give to this.

1. Be careful of mistaking the exact same feeling for one extremely similar.

2. Traumatic experiences have many many layers to them. Especially considering that many damaging things happen to us dozens of times a day for decades or more. You may be integrating or healing one kind of wound bit by bit. Each time you work with a new aspect of the same problem or heal a little bit more of the same injury.

3. You seldom know how long something will take to integrate. You may be thinking to yourself that you achieved a transformation when in fact you have not. You may be feeling good for other reasons but not actually be resolving what is presently in your mind.

Sorry my reply took so long. I have to look into getting email updates when someone posts on the forum. I thought I had already set it up but apparently not!

Chris

hi Chris;
I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my question.
sincerely yours,
simo P.S. It's given me some motivation to continue the process. I can handle multi-layered problems. It's just a matter of time, hopefully.

It makes a world of difference to have an actual Vivation Professional giving you lessons and coaching your sessions. They provide instant feedback to you while you are Viving. They can constantly help to show you when you are latching onto thoughts and not integrating.

They also are a living, breathing, tangible example of Vivation in action. Simply being in their presence does a great deal to give you a "feel" for Vivation. As it is often said, what we are getting at isn't 100% communicable in words alone. The spirit of Vivation is much more apparent to you when you are with a live coach.

If you live anywhere near Southern California I could be a relatively inexpensive option. Paul Hughes lives near Reno, Nevada.

Enjoy yourself

Chris

integration

Integration is about changing the way that you relate to a feeling, not making it go away. Jim Leonard used to tell me this, and I did not quite understand what he meant then, but I do now.

What I like about Vivation is that it teaches me not to avoid the triggering emotions and feelings in my body, but instead to reach out to them with interest and curiosity, so that I can listen to what the body is telling me. The body is much more trustworthy than the mind, and the more we can listen to it, the healthier we are. With The 5 Elements or The 3 Points to Remember, I can feel emotions and relate to them in a positive way. The feelings in the body are not there to torture us. They are there to help us know when something is safe and good for us, or not safe and not good for us. Problems happen because the conscious mind does not communicate with the body well and makes illogical conclusions about emotions and body feelings. When you think an illogical thought, that does not "get" what the body is trying to tell you, the uncomfortable feeling keeps on trying to get our attention. All the body wants you to do is notice the sensation and relate to it in a positive way and then the sensation does not need to be there anymore. The wonderful thing about Vivation is that you can bi-pass the mind and its' thoughts, and just listen to and be guided by the body, as you find positive ways to relate to body sensations.

We have an ability to know very early in life what is good for us. If someone treats us with respect and kindness and encourages our curiosity, we know as little children that these thing help us be our best self (as Shirley Jean Schmidt states in Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy). As children, we do not know how to use the our body feelings and emotions. Parents who can teach us how to feel emotions and express our feelings in appropriate ways are able to help us handle the information that our body gives to us. If we have parents who cause emotions in our bodies that are telling us that we are not being treated in a helpful way, we become frightened of our body sensations, because the very persons that we depend on are the cause of uncomfortable body sensations. The body's communications are powerful. Sensing them and using them to help guide you through life is a powerful tool-sort of like Luke Skywalkers light sword. If you did not have guidance as a child on how to handle powerful emotions, then Vivation is what you need. Vivation helps you to listen to your body and not be afraid of it.

As I have been grieving my dear friend's death, I have had many triggers for emotions and body feelings about him, and Vivation has been such a gift. There are many losses in life that we grieve for, and Vivation is just as valuable for dealing with them.

Our relationship to body feelings is what is important. When you seek body feelings out, relax in their presence, and enjoy the moment as much as you can, rather than suppress them, that is what integration is about. By doing this, you will learn to trust your body and rely on it for guidance in life.

Janet Kurz

Janet,

My only criticism of your reply is that you called what every Star Wars fanatic knows to be a light saber a 'light sword'. :-P

Your integration question

Hi Simo, I'm glad to hear that you have received some benefit from the CD, and want to respond to your post. Both Chris' and Janet's responses are true...the feelings that you may think are the same ones returning are just deeper layers of the pain or trauma coming up for healing. I remember when I was healing a lot of pain surrounding my father issues, it seemed like I would never integrate ALL the deep seated pain and emotional negativity. Life went on, and I kept Viving and it seems I was dealing with all kinds of other things than my "father" issues, but one day, I thought of him, and it didn't hurt any more. Only AFTER the issue had been healed, was I able to look back and realize that I had been healing these things all along, masquerading as other "issues".
So just keep Viving. It really is better to learn Vivation with a real live Vivation coach guiding you every step of the way, your integrations become much more efficient. Kudos to you for having the tenacity to learn the technique from the CD. I would be glad to help you, or you could come to a community workshop.

Hi Patricia;
I appreciate your kind words of encouragement. Yes I have considered getting a vivation session. That's definitely in the future. I do enjoy your c.d.'s. I'll keep on plugging away.
sincerely yours,
simo P.S. Are you planning on releasing your bliss breathing on C.D. anytime? I noticed that you only offer it as a workshop.
