Birmingham's Contra Dance Contessa

by (no login)

That would be Linda James, with the unforgettable hair and the gypsy eyes, inspired by dance, and ENTHUSIASTIC supporter of the arts.

Linda, my friend since college, led me to the De Camillis story through her Christmas 2001 present of THE FREEWAY on my trip through Birmingham.

The read, the journalizing, the story, the lifestyle, the self-publishing aspect, making money on the road, making art outside a studio. These aspects appealed to me. And you, Dori, spoke to me.

I hit the road this summer, thanks in large part to your story.

Linda connected us in one more way. Now my art hangs in the same gallery as your work with Joe at Bare Hands. I am honored.

After she gifted me your book, I sent it back to her for her own read. She returned it recently, but not until she had you inscribe it for me. What a treasure.

I will just assume that we will meet on my next trip to Birmingham. If I don't know you personally, I feel I already met your spirit.

B'hamians: If you see Linda, tell her Hey from Lore!!!

Happy trails,
Loretta Srch
