Response to Re:Japanese Boat Numbers - Again |
| 1. You mention that, apart from the Shohatsus, river crossing equipment was moved by the river crossing material units. Were these boats moved by road from the Singora area, or were they brought from a closer port (perhaps Pontian Kechil, Mersing or Endau)?
On road. Note that they accompanied with Japanese forces for river-crossings in Malaya Peninsula.
2. Apart from using the rubber trees to hide movements, what other measures were taken to hide the Johore Strait crossing preparations from British intellgience or air reconnaissance?
The Japanese specially took care for the smoke of cooking. They cooked at far place and carried meals to encampments. Natives around Japanese encampments were moved to far place.
3. Can you please provide some more details about "Senshi Sosho - Malaya Shinko Sakusen, Boeicho Boei Kenkyusho Senshi-shitsu"? Who wrote it? When was it published? Who published it?
Written by Boeicho Boei Kenshujo Senshi-shitsu, published by Asagumo Shimbunsha, 1966, Tokyo
Kenkyusho is my error. Kenshujo is right.
