The flush deck destroyers were armed with dedicated naval guns: 4in/50cal Mark 9. USN terminology called them mounts.

Range 15,920 yards at 20 degrees of elevation, firing a 33lb shell. A different model of the Mark 9 was fitted to various classes of U S submarines.
