If you read Friedman's article in WARSHIP II, there were several basic 5in/38 single mountings:
Pedestal type - no shell hoist and fuze setters on the mount
Base-ring open mount - ammunition hoist below, in destroyers, destroyer tenders, oilers, seaplane tenders and the minelayer TERROR
Enclosed base-ring mount - same as above but enclosed and required power training, like you see on the FLETCHERs
Base-ring open mount but without ammunition hoist - on small seaplane tendrers, again fuze setters on the mount
Plus the dual 5in/38 DP mount as on US battleships and later destroyers
Plus the early dual 5in/38 SP mount (could not be used for AA fire) as seem on the PORTERS and SOMERS classes.
