90 fathoms(90 x 6 ft)= 540 ft or around 175 metres.
It would be interesting if you could confirm this unrealistic operational limit - bear in mind that the safe diving depth of the Gato class was only 400 ft and for the earlier boats even less. But more importantly, the mean depth of the Java Sea is only 46 metres!
