Response to 2 Mutinies?
I recently learned that the repatriating antilian/surinam contigent also mutinied onboard Bloemfontijn in 1947.
Those guys had been sent to far east as OVW's to fight the Japanese. That never happedned and they were repatriated via Holland to Surinam on Bloemfontein in feb 47. This happened enroute to Surinam on the North Atlantic.
The men blow the rank of corporal were on rations in the holds, while the NCO's and officers had access to px. In addition to that the fresh water was on short supply so they had to use salt water soap etc. as they had not been fully disarmed prior to board, they stormed the bridge with their weapons to emphasize their demands.
