Paul,
Good stuff! My dad was a naval officer in WWII, assigned to the Atlantic Theater. Although not a crew member of a Clemson Class DD, he sometimes went out on them on ASW patrol and often spoke fondly of "the old four-pipers". He was an engineering officer with a specialty in radar, but after the war--perhaps because of his wartime experiences--he headed one of the airborne ASW sections in the Navy Department in Washington. My wife and I graduated in the same class from a high school in suburban Maryland (her dad was a civil servant, too), though we did not reconnect and marry until years later. No accounting for the twists and turns of life.
