This post will be for some non-diving pictures from St. Martin.
This picture is from Ft. Louis, built to protect the sheltered port below from pirates.
Bethany, always a ham, strikes a dramatic pose at the top tower to Ft. Louis.
Many yachts parked in front of our condo, but this was the biggest and is one of the biggest in the world. Note the slot for the speedboat. While out on our night dive we saw another huge yacht with a moonpool for a submarine, and what was really was that the back door was open.
One of the most amazing features of St. Martin is it's airport. Planes take off and land from a runway that comes within feet of a popular beach. Here a plane backs up to the beach to prepare for takeoff.
The warning signs are largely ignored by people who line up to be blasted by the jetwash. We were told that when the 747s take off that the jetwash can lift the legs of the people clinging to the fence.

This poor tourist on the beach had thought he'd found a nice empty spot, that is until the first takeoff hit him.

This plane is landing and it give you an idea how low over the beach they come. There is a popular bar to side of the beach where loudspeakers announce the incoming flights.

Here's another shot of one coming in low over the beach. Not to many on the beach that day because the surf was pounding all the way up the beach and onto the road behind it.

St. Martin is huge on eating with fancified French and Italian places been the most common. Here we eat at one of the many OUTSTANDING French restaurants on the island.

St. Martin is also unusual for the Caribbean in that it not only has beautiful long beaches, but also Mountains with views like this:

On our final night there Bethany wormed her way to singing with a band called "Juke Box Heroes." Once she got up there, the audience, and the band wouldn't let her go, constantly calling for more!

The more people I meet, the more I like my dog.
