Libertarian cult hero Ron Paul rails against earmarks, that is unless they are for HIS district. Turns out he gets them for his district. The most recent $400 billion budget bill passed it included $96.1 million in earmarks that Paul got for his District.

Oh, and this is not the first time. Ron Paul gets the earmarks in, and then votes against the bill (knowing that it will pass anyway). When challenged on the earmarks Ron Paul reasons that the money is appropriated anyway, and argues that if it's going to be spent anyway, that it might as well be spent in his district. Really, I'm not making this up.

The incredible part is that his sycophant cultists actually buy that explanation. That any congressman could use that justification and that the hypocritical Paul otherwise rails against earmarks doesn't distract them from their hero worship at all.

Oh, and what critical federal programs are Ron Paul getting with his earmarks? Why, it includes $8 million in federal tax dollars for (are you ready for this?), the marketing of wild shrimp. Seriously, I could not make this up.
