So suggests this quite funny attack on the older series.

What stiff acting in the original TV series. Don't those critics realize it was sci-fi? Geesh. Brinkzs.

Still, sometimes the acting was awfully stiff in the original series, particularly from the guest stars. Though they got some good ones, like Joan Collins in "City on the Edge of Forever" and Terri Garr in "Assignment Earth" there were some real howlers in there too.

My wife and I recently researched the babe who assigned to train (and then fight) Kirk in "The Gamesters of Triskelion." She was so bad we wondered if she had gone on to do anything else. Well, it turned out she had, sort of. She went on to be a Vegas stripper and then starred in several hard core porno films with names like "Stalag 69" and so forth.

Keith, you are correct. I was looking forward to seeing the new Star Trek movie....the early characters. I was reading a review from McClatchy news in my local newspaper tonight. Now I agree with your subjectline: New Movie Betrayal to Star Trek Fans? for not what you originally posted but for the cast of characters that appear in this new version of the TV series. Die hard TV fans know that one character listed in this link was not an "original" member. Who is it? Brinkzs.

Well, I have no idea who "Nero" is or "Gaila." But they could just be people that Kirk met earlier in life.

Think Star Trek: The Wrath of Kahn and the scene where the worms are placed in the ears.

Checkout the photo....Chekov is a disappointment if you get my drift about season 1 of the TV series. Dang. Brinkzs. 8-(

I have to agree. That does not look remotely like Checkov. I assume he will still have the fake accent though.

Chekov....Chekov. To a true trekkie, which I never got into, Chekov is a misnome.

There was no Chekov in season 1 ... 1966 ... so how can there be one in the movie to be released nationwide have a Chekov. Dang. Brinkzs.

Star Trek legend holds that Checkov was added to the crew of the original Enterprise after season one after a Pravda article lambasted the show for not having any Russians on the crew when the Russians had (particularly at that time) contributed so much to the space program.
