NK tested another nuke last night, this time a bigger one, likely in the 10-20 KT range. That's the typical range of a first nuclear weapon because they are the easier ones to make. I continue to believe that the first test a couple years ago was a "fizzle" that had its chain reaction peter out prematurely, but this one appears to have been fully successful.

It remains my view that NK is the biggest foreign policy Obama faces. A nuclear armed rouge and unstable state with which we are technically still at war.

In my view the Korean crisis places the world closer to a conflict using nuclear weapons that at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

They are preparing another long range missile launch. I think there is a much better chance we shoot this one down.

And now North Korea openly threatens to use its nukes offensively.

And now U.S intelligence predicts yet another NK nuke test in response to expected UN sanctions plus more missile tests to include another ICBM.

Report that a an expected early July launch of a NK ICBM could go to the vicinity of Hawaii. What this does is increase the likelihood that U.S. Aegis cruisers could shoot down any such missile.

Yes, I heard about this today. What do you think would be the absolute best way to handle N. Korea? Are those people insane or what??

The best way would be to get China on board with meaningful sanctions. NK can live without us and the rest of the world, but they can't live without what they get from China. The problem is that China, while not liking what NK is up to, isn't really willing to cut the cord.

Without China we have to start calling NK's continuous blustering bluffs. That might include shooting down that missile when they launch. There are problems with that too, to include where that missile might fall after we shoot it down.

It's a conundrum.

I continue to believe that should NK launch an ICBM even in the general direction of Hawaii that we are laying the groundwork to shoot it down.
