Among other things launching into space and sending to Mars in advance material weighing twice what the International Space Station weighs.

Its interesting, but Buzz Aldrin argues that we shouldn't try to get men we send to Mars back from Mars.  He suggests sending them permanently, essentially colonizing Mars, because the difficulties in getting them back are so profound and expensive.

Having read and listened to many books about the race to the moon, including every book written by every astronuat involved in it, Buzz Aldrin's opinions mean very little to me.

Ya wanna put a human presence on Mars? Colonize the moon first.
