Look at this on the Red Giant star Betelgeuse. Betelgeuse is the large bright red star that forms the shoulder of the constellation Orion that is too the left as one looks at it. That Constellation is one of the most easy to identify and has many interesting things to look at in it.
Look at the comparison chart at just how big Betelgeuse is! According the current theory this size star should end it's life as a Super nova. Luckily Betelgeuse is far enough away, in the arm of our galaxy next to the one solar sysetm is in, that if it does explode it would make night seem like day and be clearly visible during the day here.
Of course we would not know that the thing had blown up for 430 years after it happened since it is 430 light years away.
