Yes, if you don't pay your taxes, and the fee is an excise tax, you can go to jail. Not a new development to the best of my knowledge.

Really? Do they go to debtors prisons or just put in with the general population of criminals? How many people go to jail/prison a year in this country for not paying taxes owed for less than $10,000?

You know I know a trucker that says he lives in Mexico because he now, after about 20 years of penalties on one years income tax, owes over $250,000. He works for Carter and drives loads all over the United States but lives south of Laredo and works out of that terminal.

Plenty are subject to going to jail for that long for not paying taxes of less than $10,000. Your scenario also involves what individuals would be subject to for not paying these taxes. Just because that represents the maximum possibility penalty does not mean it would happen often then just as it does not happen often now.

This is one of the main reasons that I am opposed to Obama care.
