Hi judith!
First time to enter this site. Was surfing the net when I came across your husband's article, "Journey to Paradise" and it caught my interest right away. The article was both very informative and very interesting.
My husband who's near retirement is always dreaming about retiring in some far tropical island with lots of coconut trees, white sands on a nipa hut near the beach. This place camotes looks like the one where his dreams might come true. I'm also a filipina but been away out of the country for a long time.

Hi Judith.....are ya'll still in Korea?

July 19 2008, 11:59 AM

Hi Judith:

Ahhh, I see that I got "Patrick's" name correctly in the post that I just made elsewhere here. Are you folks still in Korea?

I thought the picture of you with all that snow was nice. I'm up here 45 minutes outside of Seoul and we didn't get but just a few very light snows this year. I was sorta wondering what to expect because I had visions of the Korean War in my mind. I was surprised to learn that the amount of snow that various parts of the country get varies considerably.

I thought Patrick's story was very nice. I know, and I'm sure you do too now, how important it is for a guy to feel completed by finding the right girl. I haven't yet but....meanwhile, I'm keeping myself busy and out of trouble

Since my contract completion date is growing closer I'm becoming more and more aware that, although I could probably do it, I really don't want to teach here anymore. Coming over here last year was a big goal achieved in my life...I'd had a mobile windshield repair business in Houston, Tx. that was very successful for a few years but for the last 5-6 had been going downhill slowly.

Not having any particular technical skill other than sales, I was pretty much locked onto a sinking ship. When I discovered this ESL opportunity, I went for it pretty quick but I always looked at it as a stepping stone to something really more rewarding. Like you and your husband, I'm pursuing internet opportunity too. But it sounds like you guys have more or less found yours. I'm not there......yet. But I'm close.

I have some Filipina friends in Seoul and they've got me thinking, and researching, the cost of living in the Philippines. It's starting to look really good to me. I'm still not sure exactly where I'll want to settle. My primary two concerns are (a) to find a place where I can have a good internet connection and (2) someplace where I'll be able to find people who like to salsa dance (that's what I do for fun).

That's primarily what I'm using this forum for.

Anyway, maybe I'll talk to you and/or Patrick later.

Best regards,
Art

i think you are not aware that Patrick was diagnosed with lung cancer while in Korea and has returned to Cebu for treatment.
Please check one of his post for this sad news!
