The use of magnetism for medicinal purposes dates back thousands of years. As a matter of fact the earliest written medical text, The Yellow Emperor's Book of Internal Medicine, published in China around 2000 BC, mentions the use of magnetism to correct health imbalances, so it's definitely not a new idea.
