Wolverines worries....

I've just been looking at the Wolverines' website, by the way, one of the best set up in the league. Wolverines do have some issues and I for one have some sympathy for the Wolverines players and exec.

I know DP puts a lot of the blame for the Hazelton winless streak on coaching, but, if you take a good look at the site, you see the club has some additional problems -- player injuries, a few player no-shows that may indicate that the team has some player-attendance/availability problems. People in Hazelton work too, and they have the same player availability difficulties as all teams. I hope the Wolfendens and their better players respond the te current situation. The vets are under the gun ... and the captain, Stu Barnes, has a dilemma to deal with...

I do think our league is the better for having Hazelton and they came in with their eyes open, knowing that would have some unusual difficulties to face that would not be replicated in Smithers, Terrace or Kitimat. Smithers and Terrace both lost players when the Wolverines joined the league, and both were in a better position than Hazelton to replace them.

I want to support Hazelton in our league...but I really don't have any magic solutions for the team or the league. They need to win one, the players need to dig down and make it work for the coaching and the fans.

I know the Demons take nothing for granted when they head for Hazelton.

Every team has their issues.. hazelton is no different, if , like you say, they hunker down and play hockey, They are going to get better results. Injuries, dilemmas, or whatever, Any team that has to put up with reffing like that, is going to lose composure I don't give a **** who you are, reffing can dictate how a game ends up. The league is a better league with any new addition to it, Hazelton included, We just have to figure out who put the schedule together and basically just shoot them..yah, yah, not an easy job heard it all before but come on six goddamn games with the same team F$#@ me in the @$$.. no wonder no one in Hazelton want to go to the games, and it isn't because people have to work, there is no work in hazelton, probably has to do with the lack of work and the cost of a ticket..

problem with team

First of all the problems for the team this year come from many places. Second of all F*ck off paulson you slimey bastard, we all know our arena sucks yeah square boards whatever... What are we going to do about it ? The problem for the team consists of players leaving town. Boyd David best goalie in Hazelton took off after the first season (wasn't being played, due to politics) Matt Wolfenden moved away, Am Marshall left town ETC players are all leaving town and we are getting these Dolts like Morrison getting more ice time. The coaching staff has nothing to do with it there doing what they can with what they have..

if you really think about it. they arn't actually doing that bad considering the look of the team is way different this year. Im surprised they are losing close games to Kitimat and Terrace are edging out these guy's.

Paulson has always been a Jackass on this forum, he has know Idea what is right or wrong good or bad. Is comments are never worth reading, so I wouldn't waste your time, getting your dander up, not worth it. His hockey knowledge is worth Zero. He thinks Nate the Snake is worth something? Go figure. In all the years that I have been involved in the CIHL & Minor Hockey, Terrace has nothing to be proud about.

The Times are tough on most of the economies in our League, Jobs are scarce, Unless you have a job like Paulson, protected by a union, and there is no-way in God green earth that he would be able to keep his job other wise, The Young have to leave to find work, and this makes it extremely difficult for small market teams. Hazelton is the smallest market team in our league, our league is stronger by having them in it, instead of ripping them apart and their barn, we should be trying to help them instead.

Zip right over your head hey Paulson.

DarrelPaulson and Rusty are making the 2009-2010 schedule

To all those who want a crack at making the schedule be forwarned.....

1-The schedule is the way it is because it was the only arrangement that worked.

2- I was not pleased with the schedule either.

3- Consider this.....

Williams Lake provided me with only 5 available week-ends for home games, and they got those week-ends...and they refused to travel to Terrace...forcing me to play them against Hazelton in Hazelton.

Houston and Omineca provided me with 7 available week-ends each.

Amongst these 3 teams' available week-ends to host 3 of these week-ends conflicted.

Prince Rupert received very little cooperation from their city for ice and had very little flexibility in hosting

Terrace's rink was not available until Oct. 11th for home games

The League wanted to ensure interdivisional play, therefore it only made sense for teams from one division to host a team from the other division and visit a different team in the other division. This way every team plays at least 2 cross divisional teams.

As for Terrace playing Hazelton 6 times...every team had to play another divisional team 6 times. The league decide on an 18 game schedule 18 divided by 2 is 9.... 9 is a prime number...hate to sound like a teacher...but f$#$@cking get your heads out of your asses.

Finally, consider the distances involved and the fact that the regular season has to be done by the end of January, and the fact that i don't think any team wants to travel half way across the province around Christmas or New Years, plus the blackout dates certain teams gave me for home and AWAY games, and you get the schedule we have.

If anyone wants to come and look at the dozens of e-mails i received from not so understanding team representatives, and the 6 versions of the schedule i have on my computer send me a post.

yours truly,

the ex-schedule maker

p.s. Darrel if you want to shoot me you could have done it in the Van this week-end.

In my heated response to the schedule bashers I stated that 9 is a prime number...what i meant was it is an uneven number....(I teach French not math)

...up what I was trying to say. This is a hopeless thankless job, not so much because the clubs don't cooperate -- it is their community rec. people who make it hard for them....not all of them, but they do -- as a rec. dept. -- have a lot of people to please with mostly only one facility.

I have to also thank the Kitimat Rec. group for being quite the opposite -- they work very hard to make sure the Demons needs are accommodated and we know we couldn't do it without their co-operation, assistance and suggestions.

I will be looking forward to the opening of the new pool area of Tamitik Arena because the DoK is making it possible for a lot of local sports organizations to have display cases to show their hardware, their photos, memorabilia and history...
