Wasn't there to see it. Seems very odd. Francis is one of the calmest individuals I've ever seen on the ice.

On a side not Wilf Robbins, Robin Gilbert and Gilbert Robbins made the trip up for sundays game. The Stamps were still without Cox, McIsaac, Nathan Zurak, Jason Wright, Matt Lees, Jared Kohlen and afew others. I think both teams will be satisfied with the weekend. Smithers for the four points and the Stamps for hanging as close as they did with a very powerful team despite missing 2 quality forward lines and 3 good defenceman.

Should be a fun set of games next weekend in the rematch of the Rio Tinto Cup and Coy Cup Semi Final.

Missing Players

I realize Williams Lake is missing some players but so is Smithers. Smithers was without 6 starters -- Tyler Koldyk, Derek Owens, Kyle Young, Ian Smith, Dennis Olson and Craig Masse -- these guys ARE NOT going to be third or 4th line players. It will be an interesting game to see both teams with their full squad. Congrats to Williams Lake for winning the Coy Cup and to Smithers for two wins.

Sandlak. Flapping at the Yap, it will once again come and bite you in the *ss.

It surprised me Rusty, you insinuate and you are only listening to the game on the Radio. When you do that you feed fuel to fools, just asked Sandlak. You should have at least waited until more information got out.

Maybe it’s the times or maybe it’s the weather, two of the most skilled Teams in the League meet and the Pond was only half full.
The Fans missed a couple good games.

Saturday 6-5 Steelheads

Despite Bus legs the Stampeders came out flying Saturday night, two minute into the game, 2-0 Stampeders. Steelheads goalie Tyler Perreault, home game debut started really shaky. The Steelheads answered back with 1, but the Flying Stamps two minutes later made it 3-1 to end the first period.

The Turning point of the game was the tilt between Cody Sutherland and Trent Manchur. The Wrestling was even, but the punches thrown and Landed, easy Victory, Cody Sutherland (Steelheads). If you look at Trent's Face, you will agree, he won't be looking for a rematch any time soon.

The Stamps returned to the Dressing room after two, 4-1 Stamps.

The third was all Steelheads, the long bus ride finally caught up to the Stamps. A shaky Willy Sellars let in two quick goals within a minute at the start of the third, score 4-3 Stamps. The Stamps made it 5-3 on the PP. The rest of the game was all Steelheads, two goals to tie the game, and 1 goal in overtime.

Penalties
39 mins Steelheads and 27 mins Stampeders.
Shots on Goal
36 for the fish, and 32 for the Stamps.

Sunday 5-4 Steelheads

Steelheads have never played a Stampeders Team, this type of a Hockey game, It Was like seeing Orange from Trailer Town, The Queens or Stan's team from the Hoof. The Stamps, Demons and the Steelheads are known for skating, passing and speed, not Bull*hit.

This game was the Steelheads turn to come out flying, and they flew, if it wasn't for Willy Sellars, goalie for the Stamps making save after save, 18 in all in the first period, this game would of been out of reach. Gian Luther, goalie for the Steelheads, debut in the league was met with four shots in the first period and 1 going in. Steelheads scored the first 2 goals and the Stamps answered back with 1.

The second period the Stamps came out with determination and scored two quick goals on as many shots on the power play. 3-2 Stamps. For some reason none other than trying to take Brendan Hutchinson out of the game, This slug, his only Ice time for the Stamps, jumps Hutch from behind after the play, and starts throwing punches, and hutch took a couple with the linesmen right beside him. Stampeders #4 Mr Dan Kirkham, it was your lucky day, there is a God, Hutch would have by rep turned your face into Hamburger, you will have the opportunity in the playoffs if you can get past one of Sandlaks teams and of course the Steelheads win the West. This must of been a player decision, I do not want to believe it was a coaching.
The Stamps return to the Dressing room, up 4-3.

The Third period was controled by the Steelheads.
If I would of never saw it I would not of believed it, Stampeders #5 Francis Johnson kicked Steelheads Brendan Hutchinson. Hopefully someone will come forward with a video, and show all. I do not know if he has any pryer infractions, because that will determine his penalty. I am sure Kitimat will not see him next weekend. Francis Johnson was given a match penalty and a report to Bob James, BC Hockey.
Another slug, Stamps Dino Lecomte,"0" ice time, trys to take Steelheads Randal Groots head off, he was also ejected from the game. Stampeders did not win the Coy Cup playing this stile of game.
Back to Hockey. Steelheads scored 2 more times in the third to go a head and win.

Penalties
16 mins for the Steelheads and 20 mins plus a Match and 2 game misc for the Stamps.

Shots on Goal
42-18 for the Steelheads

Power Play goals
4 for the Steelheads and 2 for the Stamps.

Willy Sellers was #1 this game.

Now that we have Pointstreak, you can go and fined out who scored.

Mysterious Calls II...

No score for this post

Flapping at the yap??? Man I make one little hint of some shady past practices at 'the pond' and your all tied up in knots...According to you, your story all seems legit with Saturday nights OT...and I can buy it, and accept that mistakes get made...But there is some missing pieces to the puzzle Steely and something smells 'fishy'...How did the Ref make the mistake? Was he new to the CIHL? What other league did he figure he was reffing? Who was whispering in his ear between periods or at the end of the game to come up with a decision that clearly favored the Fish? The ramifications of such a decision will not just effect Williams Lake or Smithers, but it may come down to determining playoff positioning, and may even be a season ending decison for one team from the West that was not even involved in the game Saturday night...Hopefully there was nothing nefarious about Saturday night's blunder, but given the past history in that arena, questions will remain all season long...(By the way I think its pretty big of the Stamps, to have agreed to the overtime, and then Sunday when the fur is hitting the fan to stick with their decision, I am not sure if the shoe was on the other foot, or should I say fin, the response would have been the same)

Steely-on, be thankful for your 4 points... they will not come as easy the next time these teams meet... if they do. I seriously get extremely tired of your fight recaps and Fish are the toughest ever bull sh!t. Manchur is not a fighter, and I believe this Sutherland guy is coming off some 500 PIM season in junior last year? that's what the broadcast said. He will meet his match with other Stampeders if the time is right. And Kirkham can hold his own with anyone aswell. Huthinson may be tough, but again, there are may Stamps who can hold thier own with anyone in this league this year. This is not the same Stampeder team that has been all skill no toughness as in the past. Lecomte, McIsaac, Cox, Lees, Kirkham can all chuck with the best, so if you wanna brawl be pre warned.

Aside from that, I appreciate your time with the recap, but they are better and less biased minus the anger you were feeling when writing this one. Goodluck the rest of the season.

Passionate Stamps fan. Good on you.

Your missing the message that I was trying to get out.
The Stamps did not go to the Finals last season and win the Coy Cup, playing the game like they were trying to play against the Steelheads this past weekend. I would bet that if they would of played the way they know best, the outcome could of been quite defferent. Thanks for the 4 points, like you say there hard to come by.

Where in any post, have I said that the Steelheads are the toughest? You must be getting me mixed up with other posties. Tough guys, tough teams you will never here from them until its time.

Manchur started the fight with Sutherland, he didn't like the check he was given. His choice.

Respectfull players in the League, do not back jump. One of the most hated and feared guy in the past CIHL was, Nate The Snake form The Queens. He new his roll, he would simply skate up to someone and asked politly if they wanted a piece of him and if they said no, Nate would shrug and skate away.
Kirkham Backjumped Hutch long after the play. He could of asked nicely in the Third period for a dance and maybe he could of made you proud. Not likely.

Lacomte looked like a pretty solid guy, Why the Cross check to the Head.
All he would have had to do with the Young Steelhead was start swinging and the fight would of been on.

And the Francis Johnson thing.

Rusty if you were at the games this weekend, the posting would be quite from Stamps town.

I love a aggressive hard hitting hockey game, but I think the Stamps new philosophy might or will work against teams like Houston, but aginst teams with skill, you will be in trouble.

Go Steelheads Go

Steely if you love a aggressive hard hitting hockey game why are you a Steelheads fan?
I can't believe how much complaining you are doing after to great wins last weekend. I do not agree with any kind of kicking but you are the ONLY ONE on here compaining about the Stamps style of play. Are you the spokes person for all Steehead fans and players? (I hope not) or is it really not as bad as you say?
