I have been hearing a lot of grumblings out there about the Hazelton team and am also interested in what is going on with our hometown team.
From my understanding there have been a lot of issues with the way the team (i.e. GM, Coach and Coaches wifey and bff) are spending money, whether it be flying in players to paying for the coaches gas money (is $400+ good enough for you sir?).
By checking out the what was supposed to be the new Wolverines website, which is now the Wolverines Fan site it looks like there were some motions made that weren't adhered to by some of the committee and coach and gm (who by the way, wasn't he given his letter of dismissal? how does a secretary or treasurer rescind this?).
As for Mr Barnes, I have heard a lot of people get on his case for the big movement, but it's my understanding that he asked to be let go because he didn't agree with the way the committee was using the teams money and the way some committee members were being treated. Especially considered that I hear they were in the deficit before some of the new members decided to run for the Executive. Maybe it's time for this town to step up and get these people out of the Wolverines Committee. Ideally I would have to say that first and foremost the secretary on the Executive should be dismissed as she is also the wife of the head coach (isn't this a big no-no anywhere?). This also brings up another question to why Mr Sturney has stepped aside now, did he know something and not like it to? And as for the treasurer, what a joke really? someone who works at an office and manages finances for a living can really not keep the team finances in check? you would think she would be against flying in players who don't do much on the ice or would at least have been able to keep them out of the red. Good job. I hope whoever her employers are take a good look at the job she does and one would hope she doesn't screw over a whole community, but some people only think of themselves.
I will always be a fan of the Hazelton Wolverines, I have been a fan of the originals and now the new CIHL team, this gives us community pride. I am only writing my thoughts on this topic because I think more people need to take this team as their own and ensure that our local players and team are functioning to it's upmost capabilities and with all the drama and losing the HEART OF THE TEAM - Captain, that should raise some flags to one and all. You cannot think that he just up and left because he wants to win, he has stuck it out over the years and was excited for this opportunity, but when you don't believe in your executive, how are you supposed to come out week after week and work for a corrupt bunch of asses.
I call for a full audit of the going ons of this teams executive and its finances and motions that have been made through executive meetings and encourage all players to take pride in their team as well and ensure that the teams policies and procedures are being followed by their elected officials.
I always check out these chat forums as well as the new Fan site for the Wolverines now to try keep myself up to date so i encourage you all to do the same. I have gotten some good information throughout the community and hope that we will do something to make sure we have a team in the future.

What these people do in thier personal lives at thier day to day jobs is irrelevant. It's hardly fair to drag that onto a chat forum.
As for your coach and GM... aren't they voted into thier positions by your executive? If so, then let them do thier job. If thier not doing a good job then your executive needs to look for new candidates at the next agm. You have to put some trust in the people you vote for and allow them to make decisions related to thier position. You will never have any success dismissing people at the first sign of any hardships.
