Predictions...

No score for this post
November 13 2009, 11:15 AM

My record at predictions has sucked pretty badly this year, but might as well get it started.

Steelheads vs. Kings - Terrace hasn't really proven themselves this year, while Smithers is contending for the top spot in the West. Smithers takes both games.

Wolverines vs. Demons - The Demons are on a roll (as usual) and lead the league (as usual), while Hazelton is going through some turmoil both on and off the ice. Going to be a long weekend for the Wolverines as Kitimat handily defeats Hazelton.

Williams Lake vs. Omenica - See the first predictions, but replace Terrace with Vanderhoof, Smithers with Williams Lake, and West with East. Stampeders win both to stop the momentum the ice gained with their wins over Hazelton.

Rampage vs. Braves - This should be the most entertaining series this weekend as the Braves lead the East but can be beat by teams at or near the level of the Rampage (loss to Houston), and Rupert has shown they can hang in there with top teams and continue to improve based on last Saturday's game. Both teams are good offensively with (seemingly) good goaltending. I'll pick a series split (giving the Braves the benefit of the doubt since I've never seen them play) but hope for two Rampage wins in two close, exciting games.

Best of luck and safe travels to all the teams this weekend.

Anyone else for predictions?

Well spabb i think i might agree with you. well put.

Terrace vs Smithers
Smithers will win this weekend series agaist terrace very easily. i do believe that terrace will give them a good run in one of the games though. 6-2 then 6-3

Omenica vs Williams Lake
Well gotta go with spabb and say that williams lake will end omenica's win streak. This will not be anywhere near a close couple games. Look for Willies 5 greats to move up in the points race after this weekend. 8-1

Hazelton vs Kitimat
Well this should be a net filler game to as the demons should take it to hazelton in a very lopsided game. Well enough said. 10-3

Burns Lake vs Rupert
Well this will be another barn burner again in rupert. This place will rock and be very exceiting game to play in or watch too. I am going to go against spabb on this game though and say that burns lake will take both if the welito's play and bring a full bench. I've played burns lake back in the day when there were in the league and were a great team. I will go with burns lake with the 2 wins but very close games. if movold plays like he has the last couple weeks they may get a win against burns. burns 5-3 and 4-3

All of whats written above should ring true, however,If the game is in Rupert I gotta give at least one win to rampage. Home ice combined with bus legs always works in your favour.

Also, though very very doubtfull, Hazelton might show better than expected (though still losing) there is no better motivator than pure anger and frustration. That is what they must be feeling in Hazelbush these days with all the latest goings on.

Smithers is short 4-5 big players this weekend. I still expect 2 wins but they might be close. I think Tyler Pereault (goalie) will have a lot to do with that.

I am travelling to Rupert this evening for son's atoms tourney. Anybody, know who the scalpers are in Rupert so I can get a seat Saturday night? Also, road report says all points west of Smithers are S%*tty. Hope everyone drives safe this weekend.

Go Rampage

Steelheads vs. Kings - I am definately taking Smithers on this one....Terrace seem to be a diferent team this year...I don't know what it is...They just don't have the same competitiveness that they had last year.

Wolverines vs. Demons - I have to the Demons on this one....They play a great game of hockey, and even though their town is a little down with the mill closure....Well, all I gotta say is...What doesn't kill ya, makes ya stronger..I feel sorry for the Wolverines...They have great fans who support them when they come up and play here in Rupert...I just hope they can get there on and off ice sh#t togeather and make a game of it, or mabye even an upset.

Williams Lake vs. Omenica - Based on what I read here...I would say Williams Lake over Omenica...

Rampage vs. Braves - Of course I may sound biased..But if the Rampage have a full bench...I am going to have to say Rampage will take one...I would like to say both...But on Sundays the arena is not as full...The Rampage feed off the crowd...I believe the Sunday will sell out if Saturday's game will be close. It should good hockey either way, as it is the first time the Braves have been here in Prince Rupert to play.......GO RAMPAGE

Riverkings @ Steelheads
Most people look at a 6-1 score and think, oh well Smithers walked all over Terrace so they will do that again this weekend... However terrace lost their best offensive defenceman Toby Mitchell less than a minute into that game and were only down 2-1 after 2. River Kings are in tough away from home where they have yet to win a game...However, I woulnd't be suprised at all if they pull one out this weekend. As I said before River Kings will be a way better team in December having faced the Steelheads 5 times this month.

Braves @ Rampage
Two teams that have never played eachother. It's safe to say the Braves have never played in a building with this kind of energy... If they can keep it close after the 1st they will be in a good spot. After taking the league leading Ice Demons to a shootout last weekend the Rampage will come out flying. I am going to guess that the Rampage will win Saturday and the Braves will take the Sunday game.

Ice @ Stampeders
After getting in the win column last weekend against the weakest team in the league the Ice will wish they played in the West after these 2 match ups. Williams Lake will grab 4 points and if they get some help from Rupert will reclaim the top stop in the East.

Wolverines @ Ice Demons
If you can't beat the Ice do you even have a chance against the Ice Demons? Not if you're on the road. Kitimat will win this one by at least 5. If I'm the coach I'm starting Brent and giving Jamie the night off after a win in Rupert. If you're heading out to this one remember to WEAR RED! as they pay tribute to our troops over seas. Should be a special night at the Tamitik.

Enjoy the games CIHLers!

One DJ to Another....Agreement is SWEET

Score 5.0 (1 person)
November 13 2009, 8:49 PM

I got agree with pretty much everything my fellow DJ in Terrace. I do however have to add that:

OMN @ WLS
Duh....but you never know...On any given night and all that stuff. I give credit to the ICE for at least 1 game. C'mon the Stamps have been idle itching for competition and here come the Ice with no less than 2 wins under the belt and all the bravado you can think off. Ice get 1 win I do believe, probably a miracle on "Any given Sunday". (Dramatic aint I)

TRK @ SMS
Well even though they are our western rivals, I gotta give Saturday to Smithers. Oh did I forget Nov 13th (FRIDAY), this one catches smithers by surprise and the River Kings win a close one.

BLB @ PRR
The rainbow city a class act with the best Fans in the CIHL hands (I am jealous). Rampage will shine brilliantly in the first encounter with the Braves and win a solid one 6-4. Sunday though the Braves rebound and sneeky peet a win 3-2.

HZW @ KID
You kidding. My boy's will demolish these guy's. It will almost be surgical in nature. I agree with the VEN Meister on this one at least a 6 point spread. I have to add though this will be the most important game of the Night, Remembering our brother's & sister's in arm's will be the highlight. They would be proud of us, HNIC. PLEASE WEAR RED & Remember their sacrifice. "All gave some, Some gave All".

Haz vs Kit - Kitimat will roll win two easy wins over the rines who will not recover from the loss of stu Barnes. They will eventually fall to 5th place and miss the playoffs.

Smi vs Ter - Smithers is too strong for a Terrace team which possibly has the least amont of depth in the league. 2 wins for the heads as they keep pace with the Demons in the west.

BL vs PR - I think Rupert can take two here. Burns is definately a good team, but I think there record is still more of a result of thier competition.

WL vs Omi - should be two wins on home ice for WL, but this has traditionally been a very even match-up and with the Ice possibly building alittle momentum they will definately put up a good fight. look for two close games.

Go Stamps Go!
