Two wins for the Stamps this weekend coupled with a BL loss and WL has taken over first in the East.
Saturday got lopsided quickly with the Ice building a 3-0 first period lead and they added 4 more in the firts 5 minutes of the second for a 7-0 lead. After that the game turned into a no hitter with both teams forgetting about defence. Omineca made a mini comeback closing the gap to 7-3, but the teams traded goals from that point on. Scoring was rediculous. All I know for sure is Manchur, Girodat and Francis Johnson had big days for the Stamps and Phil Simoes had 3 points leading the Ice against the team he won a coy cup with lat season.
Sunday was much more competitive with the Stamps really shooting themselves in the foot giving the Ice 10 power plays including 3 or 4 5 on 3's. Had the Ice been able to take advantage they may have stolen this one. Dustin Robin, Darnell calfa and Dan Simoes gave the Ice a 3-1 lead with 15 minutes remaining but the Stamp were able to pull thier socks up and scored 3 quick goals to take the game despite 49 saves from Blake Buckham, who also took over from Pual Simoes Saturday night. Matt Lees with two goals and Justin Foot were the stars of the night for WL.
The Ice were missing alot of players this weekend and after an embarrassing performance Saturday, they really bounced back with a good short handed effort Sunday, but it just wasn't enough. Williams Lake played Sunday without Pual Girodat due to injury and also lost Trent Manchur early in the first period. No word on the availaility of those two for the return trip to Vanderhoof in two weeks.

Noticed on point streak that Pual Simoes is listed as the goalie of record for Omineca on Sunday, but it was the other guy... Buckham.

Paul Simoes is noted on both the Saturday and Sunday game sheets as the goaltender of record. And as the Referee has signed off on the sheets, Omineca management will have to request in writing the change be made to the gamesheet. |

fair enough, but I know for a fact that Pual did not play sunday. He did start Saturday and was pulled after 7. For accuracy in the statistics hopefully they contact you. | |
