Always with the reffing....stop coming up with excuses already, Smithers LOST. There may have been 1 or 2 questionable uncalled incidents but that applies to both teams and definetly was not the result of the score being 2-0. The reason the score was 2-0 was cause Moran guarded the net like Fort Knox. |

The reffing can always be argued, but his ranting is just sour grapes. Smithers could not of won, Jaime guaranteed that and some of those saves were totally AWESOME. |

impressive defensive performance by the Demons. Not an easy task to shutout a team that can score like Smithers. Gotta think Kitimat has the west in the bag now. Gonna be an up hill battle for the Steelies to make up the points now.
Go Stamps Go!

Reffing was brutal against steelies in the first, then in the second it evened out. Neither team took advantage of the PP. J Moran was the difference, bad goal off a waved off icing but if your goalie can)t handle the puck off the backboards kind of hard to blame the refs Steely. Demons controlled the third. 7 minors each i believe, #6 Steelies should go back to peewees he is the right size. Cheap shots all night , then turtles. i am sure Venny will have acomment. Did not think it was a real good effort by the Demons but they got the W. Steelies I am sure figure they can play better also .later |

The penalties were equal - 12 minutes each and no power play goals were scored. Shots were not -- Kitimat 41 Smithers 29. This was a good game, Smithers defended well in the first when Kitimat had power plays.
Goalie Tyler Perrault blew a clearance and left the puck in the crease after a shoot-in by Terry Helgason for an Ian Coleman tap-in with less than two minutes to play in the first.
Shots were equal in the second, 12-12, but Steelheads were dominant as Demons took penalties. Smithers could have been luckier -- but Moran was just simply a wall, with a swift glove hand.
They had their chances.
Demons delivered a workmanlike third period outshooting Smithers 13-9. Kory Finn redirected the second goal for the Demons with 5-54 left (assists Geoff Morgan, Greg Sabey.
Demons were just a little better... |

Captain.
Kitimatfan tries to be fair, with his comments, But again Wobbly pops might help him abit. From you own source KitimatFan the shots after two were 33-21 Steelheads. The third was controled by the Steelheads. How did you get your #S ?
I thought it was a good game, and the game was played to what was expected.
Jamie made the difference in the outcome. Thats Hockey. Next time its our turn. |

No, I don't think so!
Demons had a big shot advantage in the first.
In the second period it looked like Smithers was coming on strong -- but they really weren't getting as many shots through as you might think... there were lots of blocked shots and misses. Plenty of pressure -- and some great saves from Jamie ... no doubt. I still got 28-21 advantage Demons after two.
I can't guarantee the count on shots as being 100 per cent accurate...but they are not that far out. They are only one indicator of the play...how you could possibly say the third period was controlled by the Steelheads, I just don't know...
With 50 seconds left on Venny's penalty, they started off strong in the third, but only got a couple of shots on the rest of that pp. And gradually the Demons just defended well and took over the momentum.
After the second goal, I was surprised to see how easily the Demons contained the Smithers' response.
The second was the Steelheads best period and they could not capitalize ... and that was principally due to Jamie -- but the D was improving throughout the period and carried it well (on the coaches' challenge) into remainder of the third, especially when they were on the pk during the last three minutes.
Still haven't heard from you that reffing was not a factor -- although both teams saw the PP stumble a bit, even with a good amount of opportunity at either end.
