This weekend’s game between the Smithers Steelheads and the Kitimat Ice Demons was one of the best the CIHL has seen so far this season. Although the Steelheads pounded on the Demons all night and spent the better part of regulation in the Demons end, it wasn’t enough to put one by Demon’s net-minder Jamie Moran.
At the end of three the Ice Demons secured another two points and a 2-0 victory over the Steelheads.
“We played well enough to win,” said Steelheads head coach, Gord Young. “We were fighting for the puck all night in front of their net right up to the last 10 minutes of the game, but just couldn’t put it away in front the the net.”
It’s clear that the Steelheads are move up the standings, however losses like these are crucial this late in the season.
“Were playing well, were not down, so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t win the next two against Terrace.”
This was a good game...but I can't think...No score for this post

what game Steelies coach Gord Young was at...??
Demons battered Perrealt through five power players in the first and doubled the shots on the Steelheads. He gave up a very tough (on him) goal with a mishandled clearance.
It was the opposite and a lot more like Gord says in the second when the Demons took five penalties...and had lots of trouble in front of their own net. But this was Moran's night all the way...
...and after a short period in the first few minutes of the third period when they were still on the pk, the Demons responded to the coaches' demands for some improved defence and took over the rest of the third period...again outshooting the Steelheads by a decent margin.
One good period doesn't make a game...that's what the Steelheads have been missing all season, even with the Wolverines...and that's why they are now behind the Rampage too.

You can count as many shots as you like, but look at the stats... the steelheads have the highest shots on goal average per game in the league... but they are 5th in goals scored per shot... lets see that means on average...
Steelheads score one goal every 8.1 shots..
demons every - 5.8...
Williams Lake - goal every 6.5
Rupert scores one goal every - 6.7... hmmm interesting..
Hazelton every - 7.5 shots.. (even they are better which is why we expect a tough game this weekend coming)
Houston every - 8.3
Burns Lake every - 9.2
Omenica every - 9.3
Terrace every - 10
Pointstreak... stats don't lie... and sandlaks rankings... a fair match... I think based on this stat..

its a good stat if taken as it should...shows that smithers is loaded with great offence... but if the other team weathers the storm of shots or as in the case saturday has a great goalie then they can out score them... not saying the smithers D is bad or goalie is bad... it could just be the team is too offensively minded... and we all know Smithers and the demons both love that open free wheeling style of play... AND remember the steelies are one of the top teams in the league...so an adjustment for them may just be a tweak or a guy shows up that was missing from the "D" for a night... can't say too much bad about them... love watching them play the demons..
course the stat I didn't look at was shots allowed..
both are indicators of offensive zone work or defensive zone work... as well..
ain;t point streak great... we cna figure out all sorts of stuff and see if its true,,,..
alrighty Steely next game ought to be a great see ya there...
