I did not make the trip to the puddle this saturday but I'm hearing a lot off rumblings that the overtime winner was a softy from center ice?
Anyone know what happened?

I'm not pointing fingers here Hitman. I'm trying to find out facts and details on the game. I wanted to be there but too long of a drive for this fan. I'm as disapointed as anyone that there will be no more hockey this year in Bravesland.

since rusty has disappeared, I'll give you my 2 cents.
1st period was a strong road period by the braves, leading 1-0 at intermission I believe, edge in play up for debate. 2nd saw the braves get undisciplined, taking I think 5 minors to the stamps 1, I think 1 stamps goal came on the pp, while the other came on a funny hop after a botched 3 on 2 where girodat scored a gretzky-type from behind the net bouncing a puck off the back of hart to tie the game in the final minute. No fault to hart on this one, as he was trying to get reset from the chance off the rush...bang bang play that may have been a little lucky, although coming off girodat's stick, its hard to call anything lucky. tough goal for the braves, as it was 2-1 with less than 30 seconds to play in the period. edge in play clearly to the stamps, as they spent half the period on the pp(most of which, if not all deserved). 3rd period saw the braves look pretty decent after regaining the lead 3-2, but an unlucky flip from the blueline that hart didn't see dropped behind him to tie it. not long after I got tangled with a linseman and lost the puck long enough for the stamps to steal it and ended up scoring to make it 4-3. From there the braves did rally, scoring to tie it and missing a few decent chances to win it in regulation. edge in play might split from stamps in the first 10 to the braves in the last 10. OT was pretty even, stamps did hit 1 post minutes before the winner. Girodat scored the winner off a turnover at the WL blueline which prevented a line change, and created a huge gap, which he took advantage of and charged in to nearly the top of the circles before sniping a rocket past hart. I say the best game I've been a part of this year, played hard and pretty clean by both sides.
1 issue I had with the game(which I certainly am not suggesting is an excuse for the loss) was the introduction of a 2nd referee. with 4 officials on the ice I found myself tangled with them all night long(perhaps this is just shows my lack of skating ability or poor puck skills)...I don't think the referees were used to the system either, as they seemed out of position(or in the way) alot. I have never been a fan of the 2 referee system, and having now played a game with 2 my opinion has not only went unchanged, but has gotten stronger. As I understand, there was discussion of the 2 ref system at the AGM and it was shot down....could someone please tell me why then WL used it for the 1st time in a deciding playoff game?? The stamps players deserve full credit for the win, they are a classy bunch who are fun to play against, but someone in the office should have some questions to answer in my opinion. At any rate, best of luck to all teams getting thru the first round, and thanks to the Braves players for a fun final year.

AS far as I know the 2 referee system is not aproved for play in the CIHL! here in Kitimat we have 3 referees that could wear the bands and we not once even discussed doing 2 referee system! Don't know how or why it was allowed as the league and BCAHA would have to approve the change in writing.
Not to mention I have never seen the procedures to refereeing in the 2 referee system so its easy to say thats why the 2 referees looked lost out there( watching NHL on tv not good training tool) there are steps for everything we do out there on the ice and its Canadian wide.
I think the league has to look into this action for random experiments especialy desiding game in the play-offs sounds short sighted, is the game still sanctiond by BCAHA ?? you changed the game conditions without permision.. was the second referee covered by mutual aid? He wasn't supposed to be there! trust me if SH!T happened and mutual aid was needed...Insurance=Lawyers and they will find holes!! and someone elses ass would be one the line.

Wilejto you say "thanks to the Braves players for a fun final year" ??? Does this mean the final year for you? final year for the Braves? or am I just such a big fan of yours that I'm looking too deep into things you say?

I dont know if you have spent time with the stripes on at all, but BCAHA has given the go ahead for 4 man systems. In Williams Lake they have work a few tourneys with 4 man system finals. They have had a few practices just go over that format. Having been at the game I didnt see them in the way anymore then what they would have been during a normal game.

I think the SHERIFF will probally be back next year. The Braves will deflated with out the Chief next year. They need him as a leader and a guy who can turn the game around in the matter of no time. We all know that the Chief is a dominate player out there, we all just wish he would do it more often. I heard he dropprd the gloves this year for the first time in 5 years, wasnt much of a fight more like a nice slow dance at center ice. Im a big fan chief and we all woould like to see you back next year.

By sheriff do you mean Matt Matus? A lot of people don't know but #15 can really throw em'. I think Big Chief #25 is hands down the toughest guy in the league, however he is getting a little long in the tooth. When the Braves have Wilejto & Matus in the lineup it gives them a one-two punch similar to that of Probert & Kocur. So lets all hope that the ederly chief does not hang them up next season so that him and Matus can continue to rule the CIHL roost.
