Ice Demons just too fast for tiring Wolverines -- entertaining game, Cody Smith let in nine and stood on his head giving a great performance for the 'Rines, stopping 44 of 53 shots -- some in spectacular fashion.

There was not a lot of pressure on Jamie Moran in the Demons' net, until the third when the Wolverines seemed anxious to spoil his shutout -- as they should.

Demons would like to congratulate the Wolverines on a good season under very difficult conditions -- and to have the league's top scorer, is a credit to the team.

Tonight's game minus any crap, well reffed by Bill Mehr from Smithers - six minors to Hazelton and three minors to Kitimat.

Scoring

Period 1

1.19 9 - Jeremy Brady (5 - Jonnie Aiken)
11.29 - 6 Terry Whelan (21 Blaine Markwart,4 David Venman)
16.51 - 3 - Josh Marsh (2 Steven Venman, 23 Doug Wilson)

Period 2

4.28 - 71 Daniel Mayer (8 Ian Coleman)
7.55 - 8 Ian Coleman (71 Daniel Mayer)
19.21 - 21 Blaine Markwart (7 Derek Wakita)

Period 3

3.17 - 41 Nick Markowsky (2 Steve Venman, 18 Jeff Baker)
16.03 - 6 Tery Whelan (7 Derek Wakita, 19 Geoff Morgan)

Jamie Moran, the shutout...the wall.

Looks like the Demons go fishin' again next week.

Looking forward to it...

we were probably about 1400-1500 (with all the volunteers) in the rink -- but it was a bit more like old times. Very entertaining -- except maybe for the Wolverines' players, but they seemed to have a good time too. We thank them for a pretty good hockey game without a lot of fireworks.

Very few penalties -- a couple of players bristled at each other a couple of times, but sticks and elbows were down, hits were hard and sportsmanship abounded.

Moran's shutout, for the record, included a stopped penalty shot from Mitch Hobensheid who was pulled down on a clean breakaway...

Beer garden sold out, some great prizes were delivered, the kids had their faces painted up, we saw people we haven't seen in a couple of seasons and all in all it was well worth the effort.

Cannot thank all the volunteers enough!!

Hope to see everybody back with Smithers in town for the semi-finals the week after next...

Now - Sandlak -- what happened to the Luckies? Come on make it good!

The Ice brought a good team to town last night, and played a terrific road game...did not let the Luckies get any momentum going...Dustin Robbin had a hat trick...as far as this afternoon goes there is no guarantee that the Luckies will win, it is going to take good ole houston hockey to come away with the series win...Mike MacKayt was missing which threww the line combinations out of whack, but championship teams overcome adversity, we will see what kind of combos the coach has in store tonight...Glad to see a good team from vanderhoof...what kind of series would this have been if the Ice could not ice a competitive team?? Should be a good one this afternoon, will give a write up later on this evening!! Go Luckies!!

...not just referring to the hockey game, but the whole night.

Not really liking your condescending attitude, however, each to his own...everybody shook hands and said, wait till next year...
