Just wondering if the CIHL AGM took place this weekend as discussed and what, if anything, was decided in regards to new teams or fight rules or refereeing or executive or etc... If not when is the AGM scheduled for?

It did take place May 15th in Smithers.
Highlights....
1. No New teams
2. Vanderhoof given until Mid June to figure out if they can muster enough support to stay in the league.
3. New uniform for Terrace introduced and approved.
4. 16 Game schedule agreed on. 1 crossover game Home/Away. Same person as last year doing the schedule.
5. Smithers as agreed last year will be in eastern divison this season.
6. Firmed up 5 game rule to qualify for playoff play to now read 5 games with team that qualifies for playoffs.
7. Same format as previous year for playoff qualification except this year only 4 from east qualify. (If Vanderhoof is not in then all teams qualify).
8. No change to fight rule, remains as before.
9. Williams Lake approved and supported to be CIHL bidder for Coy Cup.
10. Exec. Terry Marleau (Kitimat) President, Josh Armstrong (Rupert) Vice President. All other positions no change.
11. Pointstreak will be utilized again, statistician given more authority for recommending fines for late gamesheets, player carding irregularities.
It's what we got and we will proceed the best way we can with.

Don't mind heading forward with how things are, but Smithers moving East is silly. The competitive balance of this league is now so out of wack. Kitimat will stroll through the west like they used to, untouched and unchallenged while Smithers, Houston, Burns Lake and Williams Lake will be struggling just make it through one round.

Also, was Prince George discussed? if so what was said? were they there?

Rusty:
As PG did not show up and there was no correspondence from them the point is moot. Obviously all the talk of PG was just that talk. There was some further discussion on PG and it appears there is a east-west divison, east feels PG would hurt the League and west say's bring it on.

Smithers going east was pre-ordaned by last years AGM, with 9 teams and the fact that west would have 1 team not making the playoffs while east would all have all teams make it then it was decided then to alternate Smithers. If Vanderhoof steps down it make it a even 4 teams in each divison.

Mugabi:
I did not see you at the meeting putting up your hand, maybe your not a volunteer like the rest of us. If you dont volunteer for exec positions then you have no say "At all" in who becomes the president. Plus to Terry's credit he has plenty of experience running sports organizations and will have all the experience necessary to run the CIHL.

Rusty I do not see Kitimat Strolling through the west this coming season,
Rampage are on the Verge, to make the next step up, Terrace has the players to compete, just need a Brain change and coaching, Hazelton at least two more years in the league, see what the Chiefs will spend.
The Demons are not the team, that were.

The New Team on the Block is Willy's Puddle.

Vanderhoof should be right up there with the best, they can draw player support from Fraser Lake, Ft St James, Prince George, Maybe Mr Read can fix that mess, hopefully.

The Mock vote defeated PG's entrance in the League quite soundly.

The Fraser LK talent all plays for Burns Lake, Ft. St. James has little talent remaining from the old Stars days and PG will have the Mohawks albeit not in the CIHL. Vanderhoof has about 10 local players at most who are interested. I can't see the Ice making it into the season.

I agree Kitimat is coming back to the pack, problem is out west the pack is soooo far behind. Rampage are on the up swing, but I wouldn't expect much challenge from them considering they are like 1-12ish against the Demons in two seasons. Hazelton is Hazelton and Terrace does not have the talent. In the East there is now 4 real good teams with Vanderhoof falling somewhere in the same boat as Terrace and Hazelton.

sad that PG didn't show up to the meeting? I don't know what happened? Maybe they have decided to pursue AAA instead playing in a circuit with Dawson ETC... Vanderhoof doesn't sound like they will be in the league? really? what a shocker, how can Hazelton muster up a team (if thats what you want to call it) and Vanderhoof can't? Wow what an embarrassment for that town, unless they don't care. Terrace got new uni's? what are they looking like? I'm glad theyre getting rid of those outdated horrendous black white and blue jerseys with by far the worst Logo in the league... Should have added a 2 fight rule this is a mens game come on CIHL... I can see rupert doing well this season but I wouldnt count kitimat out no matter how many players are gone due to the closure. should be a good year good luck to all teams in the summer, hopefully I get to see some exciting CIHL hockey in vanderhoof if the Ice decide to ICE a team... PS. NO PUN INTENDED.

done deal
