Saw this on the Williams Lake Stampeders site:
The Williams Lake Stampeders have been awarded two points following Sunday’s 4-3 loss to the Burns Lake Braves.
It was brought to the league’s attention that the Burns Lake Braves played Sunday’s game with a player, Mike Corby, who was on the roster but not carded by the Canadian Hockey Association to play in the Central Interior Hockey League.
With the two points now awarded to the Stampeders, their record now improves to 1-1.
Sanctions were also handed out by CIHL president Terry Marleau against two other teams for identical incidents — the Prince Rupert Rampage and the Smithers Steelheads.
Prince Rupert’s carding infraction occurred on Oct. 2, while Smither’s infractions occurred both Saturday and Sunday. The players ineligible to play were Jerry Kurka of Prince Rupert and Andy Malbeuf of Smithers.
All well and good but was Jerry Kurka, the assistant coach, actually listed on the Rampage roster? Don't see it on the game sheet, but curious to know if that is the case...

My memory is a little hazy, but I'm not even sure Kurka was in Kitimat on Saturday. He certainly didn't play. HC Frank Pyde was there for sure, as were Ron German and Rob MacDonald (they worked the gates). Jules Robinson was there, but I don't really remember any other Rupert staffers there.
Someone has to have gotten the Rupert players name wrong.

Doesn't factor into the standing in Ruperts case since they lost anyway, but it does matter in the ultra tight East where this has affected 4 teams. This has been a problem that has gone on for years and has never been punished. Had this been handled properly in the past this would have never happened this weekend, but I'm sure Smithers and Burns Lake will not make the same mistake again and hopefully no other teams have to learn this the hard way. Seems pretty irresponsible to not sign a player on the online carding system and then have him in your lineup.

The article was incorrect in naming those two individuals as being uncarded. They were in fact the two individuals that signed off on the game sheets in question. As such they have been assesed apropriate disciplinary action.
It is correct that the Burns Lake Braves made the mistake of playing an uncarded player, in Mike Corby. Burns Lake have acknowledged their mistake and have accepted the forfeiture of the two points to Williams Lake.
The Smithers Steelheads added a player to their game sheet with a last name different from what was carded. The Steelheads are inquiring with BCAHA as to whether a player can be carded under his proper name but appear on a game sheet with a name he may use on a day to day basis. The two points forfeited by the Steelheads may be returned to Smithers on appeal.
The Prince Rupert Rampage failed to card any players or coaching staff prior to last weekends game. They have been assesed appropriate punishment for this non-action on their part.
The League is confident that each team now knows they are being monitored in their carding requirements and will not make any further mistakes.
