I heard second hand that it was a gong show of even worse proportions - it's like, if the Ice can't beat them, we'll embarrass ourselves with garbage, spear to hurt kind of hockey -- how is the fan base there???? I doubt guys with real heart want to play this kind of game and I KNOW fans don't want to watch it - especially every match up. I am looking for the game sheet but not sue where they get posted - heard Turgeon was up to usual psycho plays getting his full wad of penalties in the first and getting tossed only to literally assault a player off ice. I am waiting to see how the league responds as the coach obviously keeps opening the door even after I heard him on the PEAK after the last gong show apologyzing for his undiciplined team and saying that this was their nunber one goal!!! Good progress.
Ice you have lost all respect and integrity for the game. |

The peak last night reported a bench clearing brawl, but what I've heard second hand is that it was a brawl in the hall way after the game.
As for the Omineca coaching staff, you gotta give these guys a break. I feel bad for them. They have zero options. Barely enough players to fill a team. There are not enough bodies in Vanderhoof, Burns Lake scooped the Fraser Lake guys when Omineca was having problems with the old executive and nobody from PG has interest since the Mohawks restarted. Their hands are tied. They can't send anyone packing or risk pissing them off or they will just quit and then what? no team. This is a team in a real mess and the fix for them will take a couple years. |

Are you condoning this garbage play Rusty? Why are their hands tied -- Ominica had 18 guys dressed last night - they would likely have more if they got rid of 3 clowns or at least sat these clowns for periods of time to send a messsage. Turgeon #10 got a gross match last night for sucker punching a Smither's player after they were ejected for fighting. This was on the way to the dressing room and not after the game. Turgeon #19 got a misconduct for such a viscious slash right in the first period. The slash was so bad, he was ejected from the game. Bird - well all he wants to do is fight - and picks one EVERY game. The VAnderhoof players, for the most part, have a decent team but they would do better without these selfish guys that spend their time in the penalty box and chasing after players to fight or hurt them. Guys have to work after the games and have family's to go home to - some are self employed. What is the league going to do about this? Do we feel bad for the team Rusty and sit back until someone gets hurt more seriously? Ominica has enough players without these 3 guys. I don't feel bad for them when coaching/management staff sit back and think they can do nothing. There were about 100 fans at the game - a home game - go figure!!!
Last night's reffing was first rate - he had total control of the game and an extremely tough job to do. He could have called a lot more penalties for Ominica but called enough to control the game - with a less skilled reffed, it could have been uglier.
The selfish, psycho attitude of these 3 players alone can finish a team and hurt the league - the coach and staff HAVE to do something Rusty -- I feel bad for the rest of the team who hang their heads after each game and apologize to the Smithers players. |

Gabby was alot more polite in his recap of the game, then I would of been.
I feel for the Omenica players that want to play hockey, thats all but three players. It will be a shame, that three player will destroy a team, and thats what's going to happen. When your shaking hands after the game, and the Omenica players and coach are saying sorry guys, were done, I don't want any part of this. To me its a very simple solution, good bye 3 Dick heads from the fort. The Ice are a better team without these shi*heads, and I truly believe that more fans would come and support the Ice with these guys gone, and maybe more local younger players would come out. If I remember correctly Vanderhoof has a fine Minor hockey program, where are these players?
Is it only the Steelheads that have problems with these FAS shitheads from the Fort?

I agree with Gabby and Steely-on Rusty - looks like they have options to me -- the players don't seem to be lasting in the game anyway and with suspensions and match game suspensions, they miss even more and you want to give coaching staff a break???? What about giving the rest of the decent Ice players and the rest of the league a break -- grow some balls and send a message. THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!!! THIS IS NOT WHAT THE LEAGUE IS ABOUT!!!!! |

It is my understanding that the Steelheads had the infamous Cody Sutherland in the lineup last night...if your organization is so opposed to the antics of goons such as these three clowns...why put one with a similar track record in your lineup? |

There is a big difference between Cody Suth and the douche he fought last night.Cody racks up a lot of PIMs for fighting, not for spearing & slashing. He is coming back from knee surgery otherwise he would have been a regular in the Steelhead lineup before now. |

This is no comparrison Sandlack! Cody had one penalty which was the fight. He can play disciplined hockey and the coaching staff has control which is UNLIKE the goons from ICE. You WILL NOT see a game sheet with Cody Sutherland plastered with major infractions, ejections, and the nummber of undicsiplined penalaties. There are a couple of other players for Smithers that one could put in the Cody S category as far as grit and physical play but they are not out of control -- they do not regularly get game misconducts or supsensions or hurt peopel with cowardly plays. The coaching staff at the ICE have NO control over these three goons who go out to hurt people. A Smithers player was speared in the groin so bad during the October 30th game by Turgeon #10 that his cup was broken in 3 places. It wa a typical cheap incident behind the play that was not picked up by the ref. I can guarantee you would not see Sutherland doing those shots - Smithers does not stand for that kind of play - Smithers is one of the lowest penalized teams so Sandlack - stop comparing apples with oranges and the apples in Vanderhoof are rotten. |

You guys are likely right, there are avenues I'm sure to deal with these guys if it's as bad as you say... Although it's seems that the Steelheads bring out the worst in these guys for some reason. Last week in Houston there was no mention of these kind of antics and although as a team they took their fare share of penalties, there was nothing with intent to injure when we played them.
I know these coaches and they are good people with a positive outlook and high hopes for what the Ice can be in Vanderhoof, but I know there really is a shortage of bodies in Vanderhoof and a huge lack of quality players. If you have 18 bodies and release 3 guys your not leaving yourself much.... most senior teams operate with over 25 players on their roster and still have travel weeks with short benches. |

I don't think the Steelheads bring the worst out in them Rusty -- I think if you check the game sheets for matches with other teams, you will notice the same guys fighting and with major infractions EVERY game. It is just amplified for the Steelheads because they have played them 5 times and have one more game to go. The more they get their *** kicked, the more they get demented. I also think the players and staff are, at the risk of sounding like whiners, speaking up more to raise some light on the issue.
I am sure the coach is a good person as you say -- doesn't make the coaching decisions, or lack of, to control three goons wrecking if for others, good ones | |
