Houston openned the scoring on a goal from John Marren (B Dinelle, D Dinelle).
Rob Millar drew Rupert even on a pretty pass from Jeremy Boot and then put Rupert ahead shortly after a nice drag move across the front of the net (not sure about the assists on this one as I got caught watching the puck).
Johnny "on the spot" Hunt (T Helland) put Rupert up by two, slammin the puck into an empty net after a miscue behind the Houston net.
Good first period, some scoring chances for both teams, a couple powerplays for Houston and one for Rupert. Millar seems extra fired up for this one. He's been a one man wrecking crew so far.

Chris Woodrow (G Sheppard, R Millar)
Colt Stava (B Stava, T Jackson)
Rupert had a stretch of about five minutes in the middle of he frame where they went Globetrotters on the Luckies. Seems that Houston was beginning to come unglued toasted the end of the period.
As well, Rupert down a defenceman (Trent Davis) after a major and a game, and down a forward (Danny Wright) how took the warm up and started on the bench, but appears to be in plain clothes with the rest of the "black aces" behind the net.

The first period of tonights game was a bit of a back and forth affair, with Rupert coming out on top with a two goal advantage. Johnathan Marren openned the scoring on a nice feed from Blair Dinelle and in some ways, may have unkowningly swung momentum to the home side. Maybe it was just in my mind, but it seemed that goal lit a fire in Rupert's Rob Millar. From that point on, and for much of the next forty minutes Millar was the show. He was all over the puck, creating chances galore for the home side. A goal off a nice feed, a big individual effort on another goal and another sick feed on the Woodrow goal. In the second, the Stava's also got in on the action as Colt finished off a nice string of passes. Topped off with a goal from the "Grind" line and by the time the second period ended, Rupert had a firm hold of the game with a four goal lead.
The third saw both teams play a little scrambly. At times Rupert lacked any kind of structure in their own end and it wasn't long before Blair Dinelle got one back for the visitors on a one-timer from the leftside face-off dot. Tempers rose as the period wore on (and some questionable calls mounted for both sides, including a bizzare one where I believe that a Rupert player got two mintues for what can only be described as turtling). With about two minutes to go and a slew of penalties ending, Dinelle drew the visitors as close as they would get, on a shot from the blueline that I would think Rupert keeper Keith Movold would want back.
With that win, Rupert clinched top spot in the west (Kitimat can at best only catch Rupert in points, Rupert has more wins and better head-to-head record). Furthermore, they've continued to show that the "Jim" is a tough place to play.

on winning the division. It's a great feeling and youi don't get long to enjoy it.
Good work by Frank and the staff and the Stavas, Millar and the boys for an intense season. Expect to see us in the playoffs.
Gotta get outside and shovel -- can't see my walkway, driveway or truck. Save travel, to all teams after the games today...the highway is treacherous.
