The Ice Demons, sore from the bruiser win in Terrace Friday night, had a relatively calm game against the Prince Rupert Rampage, winning 7-3, in a convincing manner Saturday night.
In stark contrast to the Friday game, there were only four penalties in the contest, three to the Demons, two trips and an elbow, and one to the Rampage, a slash.
That being said, it was a more sloppily played, but still a fast, interesting game.
Rupert opened the scoring after 13 minutes, when a Demons defensive player tripped in a rut and allowed John Hunt in alone on Brett Vilness. But that was replied to quickly by Justin Bogaert, (Jeff Mildenberger) to tie the game.
Demons scored two in two minutes in the start of the second, Brady (Ian Coleman, Mildenberger), the Jon Aiken (Kyle Madsen, Jeff Baker). Demons defense was bolstered by return from a long-lasting injury of Jeff Baker and Dave Venman played his second after a long absence due to injury.
Jared Meers made it 3-2, but Terry Whelan ((Josh Slanina, Steve Venman) restored the two goal lead off the following face off.
In the third the Rampage kept plugging away, but a new line of Craig Hewitson, Derek Wakita and Chris Vilness added three goals in a row in the third to put the Rampage away. Hewitson (Bogaert, Wakita) scored at the 3.00 minute mark, then Wakita slammed home a drop pass from Hewitson six minutes later and six minutes after that the two changed roles as Wakita fed Hewitson for his second of the night and fourth of the weekend.
