Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you likely know that this years Coy Cup will be hosted by the Whitehorse Huskies:

What you may not know is what Hockey BC is doing for playoffs to determine the other representatives.

Clipped this from the Chemainus Valley Courier Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Chemainus-Valley-Courier-1438203709773927/

Jon Hollett and company are heading to Kelowna March 4-5, as the South Island Knights go after a berth in the Coy Cup Senior Men's AA Hockey Championships. The winner of a two-game series between the teams qualifies for the Coy Cup tournament in Whitehorse. If the teams split the first two games, it'll go to sudden death for a decision.

....and this from the North Island Capitals Facebook page:

It pains us to say this but Powell River has cancelled the games this weekend. We had a full lineup and we were excited to play for our fans. These were playoff games and would determine who would go to the Coy Cup. Sorry for the inconvenience.

So it would appear that the winner of the Kelowna Sparta, ( http://kelownasparta.com/), vs South Island Knights will make up one representative and the winner of the North Island Capitals vs Powell River Regals, (assuming they reschedule the games), will be the other rep. And of course the CIHL league winner will be the 4th and final entry to the tournament at the end of March.

The only other Senior AA teams in the province are in the Peace country, (Dawson Creek Canucks and Fort St John Flyers). However nothing seems to indicate that they are playing down for a position at the Coy Cup. Could be their Alberta based league schedule conflicts with any possibility of making a run at the Coy.

Good luck to all teams.

Huskies seal up Sparta with series sweep
The Whitehorse Huskies will be heading into the Coy Cup tournament on a high note.

By Marissa Tiel on February 20, 2017

The Whitehorse Huskies will be heading into the Coy Cup tournament on a high note.

The Huskies, which host B.C.’s Senior AA tournament at the end of March, logged more game time on home ice with a quick dispatch of the Kelowna Sparta 5-3 and 4-2, Friday and Saturday nights at the Takhini Arena.

“I was pretty happy with what we saw,” said Huskies coach Michael Tuton. “That was a good series for us. They’re very fast and they made us work for it.”

The offensive line of Kevin Petovello, Ted Stephens and Derek Klassen combined for 12 points over the two games.

Standup goalie Jon Olthuis was back in net for the Huskies and Jared Tuton was back on the ice after being on the injured reserves list for the Huskies’ series with the Kainai Braves in January.

The Huskies are now 7-1 for the season. They will be back in action on March 28, when they host three other teams in the B.C. Senior AA hockey league for the Coy Cup tournament.

Kelowna Sparta swept the South Island Knights, (Cowichan Valley), in two games this past weekend to become the third participant at this years Coy Cup in Whitehorse. The North Island Capitals, (Port Hardy/Port McNeil) had already secured a spot in the tournament by virtue of default as Powell River failed to make the playoff date.

Winner of the Williams Lake/Terrace series will become the 4th team at the tournament.
