Update on neighbors dog

by Elise

Last night we woke up at 2 am and listened to the dog next door barking until 6 am. The house was entirely lit up. I didn't know whether she was sick or hurt or what over there, but she did not answer the phone. This morning I got a call from another neighbor who represented 5 other neighbors as well. Apparently the whole block was up last night.

The dog is very old, is going blind, deaf, and is incontinent which is why the owner leaves him outside as much as possible. But I don't think the old guy understands anything except that he wants to be inside and laying down in his warm bed, not left out the entire night in 40 degrees and lower. To me that seems cruel. I mean I know she has to clean up after him and he is ruining her house but I suggested to the person who called that maybe it was time the dog was put down. If she can't care for the animal in a caring way and he is so very old...... I know that is a hard decision to make, but this has been torture to watch for the last two years as he gets worse and worse healthwise.

Just lamenting I guess,
Elise
