When I was 15, I was placed in a state hospital for 7 months. While I was there, I (as well as several other female patients on my unit) was molested by a male tech. He was fired.
I was also close friends at another treatment center with someone who had a much more damaging experience. This girl was in a "relationship" with a female staff member for a year. I used to witness her abuse at night, as she was my roommate. The staff member was not fired, but was basically forced to resign after an investigation.
Abuse of minors in institutions, as well as of disabled adults, is rampant. Thank you for fighting for those people.
