Numerous Scuff Marks On Bare VCT

Have a retail store that has neglected their vct. The only finish on this floor is where the wheeled rack (causing most of the scuff marks) are positioned. So the hundreds of scuff marks are actually on the vct without wax. Tried to strip an area and the scuff marks for the most part are not budging.
The assist. manager there finally told me that since the store opened about 4 years ago has NEVER been stripped/waxed. What could be done to remove these?

Use an aggressive pro pad and a good stripper with a weighted buffer/scrubber. Some scuffs are easier than others, but it isn't common to have scuffs that won't budge. Most come up rather easy. Call if you have any more questions. I talk faster than type.

I've done maybe 10-12 strip/wax jobs over the past 6 months. My brand of stripper has always done a great job at removing about 95-98% of scuff marks.
My scrubber weighs darn near 100lbs., should it be heavier for a trashed floor like this?

According to the guys on the CM board, they're telling me to try some degreaser. Also, the bare vct may now have imbedded marks/ scratches.

It sounds from your description that the floor has been neglected and abused. Keep in mind that unprotected VCT is porous and absorbs soil into the floor. If it's been damaged to this extent, the damage may very well be beyond repair. However, you may be able to improve it, you may even be able to correct it almost 100%. Use a stiff stripping brush like a Nylo-grit or Mal-grit brush. Or use a super aggressive strip pad like our Lightning stripping pads. These can literally CUT THE FLOOR. You will need to take the top off the floor and cut down onto the floor's surface. This won't damage VCT, since the floor's pattern runs all the way through from the top to the bottom. The floor will be more porous than before so you you'll just need to use a few good coats of finish to cover the floor. I've serviced a number of trashed flors like this, and it is possible to brig it back to an acceptable appearance level with an aggressive strip. Just be sure to under=promise (they damaged the floor - not you).

Wishing you success!

Thanks for that interesting info Rick!
I actually tried responding to your post earlier. For some reason it did not post.

I will forward your info on to my contact for this store. I KNEW there was a way to perform restoration on vct.

How much would you charge for this service, compared to a basic strip/wax?
