Response to How everyone else does it
I have a couple of old car handbrake cables that I've snipped one end off of and they have the right size barrel fitting at one end. They are heavy duty as fuck and I used to have one that lasted for like over five years at courier work (faaaaaasands of clutch pulls a day), so I'm now leaning toward putting one of them back on.
The thing I didnt like was how stiff they were and pulling the clutch was a hard job, which is why I went to thinner cable in the first place.
Problem is it's a bastard to prepare these car handbrake cables as they have a plastic outer coating over the inner cable that has to be stripped off or it's just too thick to fit and work nicely through the outer part, and Ive yet to find a car handbrake cable that was just the right size to bodge straight on as a clutch cable.
Also, if I'm not mistaken these car handbrake cables appear to be made from proper normal metal instead of stainless, which I have a suspicion is too brittle for my use and the reason why they snap too easily at that one point.
Just say NO to voltage regulators!
